I think I've got the Erdnase grip down pretty well. I've seen a different grip in Card College, which I think if done well is superior to the Erdnase by far. But I cant seem to get the hang of it, it seems impossible to do the buckle as mentioned. Any place I can see it being done to get an idea?

I agree. The second is meant for double lifts. It's possible with the first, but that is for when you don't need the cards to be flush, which is the case for the second deal.

There's actually a video on YouTube that has it in audio form. It's basically a mashup if nursery rhyme tunes, and as Tamariz says, the more obnoxious the song, the better you'll remember.
