    Dealing with a new deck

It really is a matter of touch and a matter of practice. Practice with decks in all different conditions so that you can use a new deck handed to you by a spectator or that old worn airline deck they pull out of the back of drawer.

    Flash Paper

Do a google search for a Bang Snaps. I think that will do the trick. While you're at it, do a search in the Jinx for Wild Bill Hickok's Dead Man's Hand.

    Appearing cane

There should be a white "clip" on a string on the end of the "bundle". Pull it out, turn it sideways and let it drop in the middle of the bundle. Then, toss the bundle in the air and prepare to be amazed. When done, you can return it to its original form by pushing it together and slowly...

Performing Magic while a little drunk

Although alcohol may relax you and make you more personable, I wouldn't depend on it as a performance enhancer. Alcohol is a depressant. A little may relax you (provided you are of legal drinking age), but more than that will harm you cognitive abilities, reaction time and coordination...

One move I refuse to do and never will

It is one of my favorite sayings from Richard Bach's book Illusions. It means that if you argue that you cannot do something (i.e. that you have a limitation) , then you will never be able to do that thing (thus keeping your limitation).

One move I refuse to do and never will

Argue your limitations and they are yours to keep.

I can't be the only one who does this.

For me, the answer is that providing a program with a name for the effect is like a program at a concert with the names of the arrangements or a program for a play with the setting for the scenes. That is, it conveys that the magic the audience is about to see is a performance piece. So the...

    Spreading the invisible deck

@KonaIce, please don't post in threads that are many years old. Start a new thread and you are much more likely to get a lot of responses. When I push over cards, my pressure is more toward the edge of the cards and that seems to work. When you show the reversed card, you can use your fingers...

I can't be the only one who does this.

In the program for my show, I rename effects mostly to throw people off from trying to find it on the internet. But then again, most of what I do can't be found on the internet.

The PDF versions are the original Modern Coin Magic. The Dover book is the original Modern Coin Magic. There is a book called "New Modern Coin Magic" which has four extra chapters. If you are starting out, the PDF version is fine. Look here for the contents of the four additional chapters...

Help me find out what does this trick do.

The other chip is a voltage regulator. I'm guessing there is a delay, the first turning at a lower voltage, a delay and the second turning at a higher voltage.

One additional thought. The dual timer may have two different voltages. The first voltage is enough to shake the sand from the left card holder and the second one is more powerful to shake the sand from the second card holder.

Help me find out what does this trick do.

This is definitely homemade. You can tell from the difference in color from the box and the insert, the screws attaching the insert into the box, the hardware and little blocks used inside the picture frame apparatus. I'm guessing it is an entire show in the case and that concept is used to...
