To be (you), or not to be (you).

I think that is a false dichotomy of this side or that side of the line. You need to be your character and run with that. Perhaps your character is a pumped up version of you, or perhaps altogether different (thinking Dan Sylvester's character Sylvester the Jester). Some of the greatest magical...

    Vanish Advice

As far as a utility device goes, Jeff Kaylor's UCCU is brilliant. Instantly remove a card in full view of the audience and you won't get caught. And you will have a utility that has a ton of other uses (like card to any wallet of course). My best purchase this year. However, other things like...

    Telling Magicians Of Your Limitations

You need to recognise any limitations you have that would prevent you from doing something safely. If you feel you would get hurt, then it's your responsibly to say no. With any area of life. If you think it will likely be okay and want to try, then go for it. I don't believe there are any...

Weak minded people. What to do?

I can't say I totally agree with you Mat. Sometimes, and in some atmospheres, there is lots going on. Sometimes new people arrive, or an MC starts talking etc. and it simply distracts people. He was using weak minded for lack of a better way to articulate, however the reality is that some people...

    My Edited Video

The above are some noteworthy tips above. I did like your pacing. It was very smooth and easy to follow what was going on. Good music choice too. You are right about it being an easy trick to figure out, however, if you keep working on being quick, smooth, and natural with the moves then it...

How much would all of these be worth?

This is the most recent white centurion to sell on Ebay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/120937445208?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1413 Not sure if yours were white though.

    Introduce yourself

I too have been around since the first hunt. I am a part time professional magician, and I work mainly with corporate clientele. I'm just starting doing some weddings and really enjoying them. Before that I did restaurant magic for 3 years in West Edmonton Mall. I'm married to an...

Good Reads for the Proficient Performer?

I'm reading Tangled Web now (excellent), but I've recently really found excellent reads from Maximum Entertainment and Strong Magic. I need to reread these every year.

I want to perform on the streets :)

Ah sorry, Ambitious Card Routine. And it's a fantastic effect because you can do it in someone's hands and then you don't need to use a table. If you are looking at busking: http://forums.theory11.com/showthread.php?36918-Street-Smarts&p=388073&highlight=street+smarts#post388073

I want to perform on the streets :)

Jezby, Take the tricks that you have and use and by all means put them together into sets with openers, middle and closing effects. Try to put together 3 sets around 5-7 minutes each. I'm sure you already have enough magic to put that together. Within each set the effects should transition well...

Talk about fast shipping... (Hint: Sarcasm)

Paper, Welcome to Theory 11. Just a heads up, the forums are not the way to contact customer service (although because they are excellent, they will respond). In the future, any time you have any issues with the site or ordering or product issues, submit a support ticket. The forums are a great...

    Remembering People's Names Is Important

Great tips. I use those a lot. For me the exaggerated imagry works wonders. When I intruduce myself and I don't want them to forget my name I will say something like "My name is Justin - as in JUST IN case you forget...." It works wonderfully to help them remember which makes them feel more...

SIX New Releases + Free White Monarchs - Friday!

That sounds frustrating. But they did clarify earlier in this thread that your subtotal needs to be over said amounts. Discounts always come before subtotal. It sounds frustrating at first, but makes the most sense to do it this way (which is why [almost?] all businesses operate this way.

    Entertainment Value

Thanks for sharing about your gig. I really enjoy reading these. I think sleight of hand moves are like gimmicks - they should never be detected, and when used well, will create impossible effects. If your magic isn't relatively 'moveless', then it needs to look like it has no moves.
