    Any Advice or Resources?

I would add a vote to checking out restaurants for work. If you are good enough to get the job, then it is a fantastic setting to work on your presentation, character, routines, misdirection etc. You need a few good sets to get started (see above thread link), but it is a great place to start.

    Burning Cards

Just a tip for the collage:Use every single space and try to make it 3 dimensional a bit. Perhaps make a card house come off the page. You could use mini cards if your page was smaller. You could also try splitting a card and having it come off the page like that (you could burn it that way...

    Failing|Essay

Heh, interesting time for me to read this question. My last show was a 30th birthday party. About 35 people there and I open with Richard Sanders 'Interlace' (see link below). Well everything is going well, they are howling over the jokes, there was a lot of extra byplay because of all their...

    Restraunt work

Nice work! I worked in a restaurant for a few years. It is one of the quickest ways to refine your effects. You can definitely start with just cards. Stuff you know well, and is your strongest. However, there is a whole world of stuff out there that you can dabble in. I would recommend...

    Magic Mentors

Mentors are very valuable for any discipline in life. They offer something unique to a friend that you would practice with. Best way to find a mentor is to get connected with guys that you respect and see have quality in their showmanship, that you want to aspire to. Then spend as much time with...

    Got crush! First look.

If it is more along the lines of healed and sealed, then that's not so bad. Hanging with friends, do the setup and wait for the right time. That's not bad at all. Impractical? not the right word. I'm practical would be if the setup needed some weird chemical that was difficult to obtain, or it...

    What is 2CM?

Hmm, just thinking, I wonder how it would play if you did the switch with two dupes. So it appeared that just the two cards switched places. Anyone tried this? Then of course one could finish with two new cards. Hmm. I'll have to try this. j

    Tarantula Help

I don't think there are refill batteries for the tarantula. I assume you mean the spider pen batteries? Unfortunately those are different, and as you have discovered, don't fit. That info is on the DVD. Your best bet is to watch the dvd again, then take the battery into your nearest Walmart...

Is there a reason one would use the gimmick version over the gimmicked? Is it easier with the gimmick? Either way, it looks great so far guys.

Complete Works of Derek Dingle & Expert Portfolio

I'd be interested in a review of his books. I got a vhs from the library a number of years ago by him and it was brutally boring. Super painful to watch. Hopefully the books are good (I've heard good things).
