I agree with you. I figure buying a trick when you already know how it's done is just basically paying all that money for the performances. The money that we pay is to credit the magician for creating the trick however if we can figure out the trick ourselves, how is that any different?

Flourishing is really fun and I don't think it takes away from you magic skill. I wouldn't, however, mix big flashy flourishes into your tricks.

I don't really reccomend the Tarantula. It can do some great effects if it works but it's too unreliable. Imagine if you tell someone you will make a bill fly from one hand to the other but then nothing happens. It's also really hard to keep the thread from breaking or tangling.

You should be able to get it fairly soon however you will need misdirection. I recommend learning the turnover pass because that's the easiest one I know. Also the spread pass from Dan and Dave's website is good. Just keep practicing and eventually you'll be able to perform it when they're...

I'd recommend learning some good controls. The Double Undercut is pretty good and easy but I recommend you really put in some time and learn the pass. It really pays off.

I don't think so. Theory 11 don't really do mentalism but like you said you never know.
