    What Does Rare Mean?

"Rare" means the same as "impromptu" "organic" "killer" and "fooler." It means spend your money now before thinking about whether there is any true value in your purchase.

How Well Guarded Are Top Secrets

There is a conference in Los Angeles every other year that attempts to figure out and replicate historical magic effects where the secret died with the performer. Most performers do not sell their signature material. Wayne Houchin has a multiple needle swallowing routine that you will never...

Bar Magic / Clubs Magic Effects

Greg Wilson has some great stuff. He has a routine using poker chips and a volunteer that is amazing. He also does a "scam" where he makes a $100 bill appear from inside a cardboard bar coaster. I know the chip routine is available but it sure if he has published the bill from coaster or if it...

    Superhero

There is Frozen by Adam Grace which is really cool. I used to perform Flow by Dan Haas using a Percy Jackson themed presentation.

    Talent Show Trick Advice?

That works fine. Exactly. You have the numbers written down and turn them over as the spectator reads them. In the middle of the numbers, reverse two digits and figure out that it should be 42 instead of 24. At the end, the list digit is a 9 but you have a six. It looks like you have...

Ted Annemann - Annemann's Card Magic by John J. Jr. Crimmins

You need to register to get access to TLPP, but it is worth it. That is a good way to get a lot of material legitimately. That said, some of the formatting isn't the best. I do prefer actual books but TLPP is a great way to learn if you don't have the money to go and buy a lot of books.

@lmbrjack Thanks for the reviews. I might pick up Weapons. I agree on the Bicycle Gaff V2 - the did look sort of bland.

No Card Tricks! Need more material.

Recapped. It is in Art of Astonishment and Greg Wilson has a great gimmicked version. Greg also has a great finger ring on string routine. I also like Alan Wakeling's Cords and Coins which uses Chinese Coins. Or you can check out the basic Grandmother's Necklace in Tarbell. For mentalism...

I think it was obvious that both of our posts were jokes.

    Name of this ACAAN?

As @Antonio Diavolo pointed out, the effect uses concepts and methods from Juan Tamariz's book Mnenonica. The method doesn't typically play out as perfectly as shown in the video.

Weirdest/funniest questions you've been asked while performing?

Q: Can you saw someone in half. A: 1. Sawing in half is the easy part, putting them back together is the hard part. 2. I used to perform that with my half-sister. 3. I can't use chain saws... it would violate the conditions of my parole.

    Overproof vs Fake a Slide

I agree with everything Christopher has said. I'll add a couple of different rules: Show rather than tell. Every action should have a justification. Every sleight should look like a natural action. The less you handle the cards, the more magical the result.

    Mentalism books

@lmbrjack has a good list. I'd insert Bob Cassidy's Fundamentals between #2 and #3. You can get it as an eBook from lybrary.com.

    What to do?

Let me pull a couple of books that are on my desk and name two effects from each book: Brazilian Bend - The bending of a fork in a cup of coffee - Bloomberg Laboratories, p. 39 Peel Slide Switch - A 4 for 4 Packet Switch on a Deck - Bloomberg Laboratories, p. 97 Twelve the Hard Way -...

    Talent Show Trick Advice?

Joe: My presentation would have you writing the numbers of the bill on large index cards as the spectator is thinking of them. My presentation is mentalism and yours is mental magic. The difference is that yours leaves the audience thinking "that was a really cool bunch of coincidences, the...

What deck do you like to perform with? Why?

I love the Artifice Blue and Purple. I have a bunch of the original ones without the border. Oh, and a couple of red ones too.

Question about the Pass, help please ??

I like Roberto Giobbi's description in Card College Volume 2. I found Kauffman's video difficult to follow - some of what he said actually didn't match up with what he was doing. The plus to that video is that it covers a bunch of different passes. Jason England's download is definitely worth...
