Most likely because Bee cards are not widely used by magicians. I suspect that they are not widely used because of their lack of a border which makes having a reversed card in the deck very difficult.

The sandpaper method leaves the cards with a rough edge, which I think is more visible to a spectator. Also, it is a lot more difficult to do right using a sander.
