Better advice would be how to go up to random people and start a conversation.

    Four Card control techniques

Assuming you mean controlling 4 cards in a full deck, I would use the Elias Multiple Shift. I learned it from Card College and Bannon's Dear Mr. Fantasy http://www.conjuringarchive.com/show.php?search=elias+multiple+shift&all=1 There are a lot of other versions of multiple shifts here...

    Card control to second position.

http://www.conjuringarchive.com/show.php?search=bluff+pass Out of those resources, I'd recommend Aaron Fisher's The Paper Engine or Card College. Aaron also teaches it on his Search and Destroy DVD (which is hilarious just to listen to Aaron talk)...

Today was pretty exciting. Story and a question.

Books Mark Wilson's book is great, as long as you don't point at the hand where the spongeball is supposed to be. The best resource is Frank Garcia's Encyclopedia of Spongeball Magic BOOK. It is out of print and beetween $80 and $100. However, there are some great DVDs DVDs L&L World's...

-newbie- I need advice on collectibles

Bsanz: It depends on how vintage and what tricks. I can probably price most books and tell you whether the tricks are rare (i.e. worth a lot more than the original price) or just used (worth less than purchase price). Do you have a list of what you have or can you take a picture? Feel free...

Saturday Night Contest - Falling In Love

My son was 6 years old and in his first year in Cub Scouts. After they finished the requirements for their Tiger badge, they were on to doing electives. One of the electives was "magic." I had always loved magic. I saw David Copperfield in 1987 when I was in college. So I decided to put on...

An interesting video from Vanishing Inc

I think different people take different things from this discussion. For some, it is about magic that can only be performed on a webcam. For others, it is about trailers not showing the full effect. For me, it is about the larger question of how you learn magic. You don't learn magic one...

An interesting video from Vanishing Inc

Interesting videos and interesting thread. I'll be honest... I don't buy a lot of downloads and new tricks. I tend to buy books and props. The books are on every magic subject imaginable. Lately, I've been picking up some older stuff for the historical perspective. I've never purchased...

Why are there no BEE gaff cards?

Most likely because Bee cards are not widely used by magicians. I suspect that they are not widely used because of their lack of a border which makes having a reversed card in the deck very difficult.

Where to buy end strippers in the UK?

The sandpaper method leaves the cards with a rough edge, which I think is more visible to a spectator. Also, it is a lot more difficult to do right using a sander.

Alternative Presentation Ideas For Biddle Trick?

John Gustaferro has an interesting presentation in his book One Degree called "Name that Tune." You also could use the method in Gustaferro's "Either Or" (also in One Degree) to select the five cards. You could have card selected and have five spectators then pick a card -- one of which is...

Where to buy end strippers in the UK?

    Best tricks to buy/books?

Based on what you've posted, I think that Art of Astonishment is your best bet. Mostly cards and coins, but there is a lot of other strange in those books and some good essays by Paul. Another option is The Books of Wonder -- it has great routines and great theory. For ring and rope, I'm not...
