    Magic/Cardistry New Years Resolutions

There is a lot of card magic that doesn't require the audience to touch the cards and that can be performed in front of a large group. Six card repeat comes to mind. Also, you can use Jumbo Cards -- I love the Bigger Card routine in Mark Wilson's book.

    Thoughts on thoughts

I think that how I have viewed magic has changed over the years. Right now, my interest is part academic and part developing new performance routines. The academic part is reading books - lots of them - and learning hstory and variations of effects. My reading is focused on historic magic...

    Silver Proof Coins

What Brian said. New coins "talk" when they rub against each other. Go for older coins -- I use 1964 Kennedys. I also like the old Walking Liberties.

Other way to make a invisible deck

Excellent. Let me know if you have any questions... nothing like actually having done it. As for being helpful, it really is my pleasure. I love this stuff.

    Food Magic

My 13 year old is very good at making a whole pizza disappear. Off the top of my head, Vanishing Bandana, Apples and Oranges (from Steinmeyer's Conjuring Anthology), Magic Candy Maker (turns sugar into candy), Magic Milk Pitcher, Bill in Lemon (orange, kiwi, etc.), Airborne (floating glass...

Coin Magic. I need some direction

The position of the coin is wrong. You are about a half a coin length too high. Hold you hand palm down. Balance the coin on your middle finger. Bring your middle finger up to your hand. Where the coin hits is where you need to hold it. That makes sense because the proceedure I just walked...

    Show and Tell

You had me at hello... Steinmeyer, Bannon, Gustaferro, Giobbi, Aragon, Trost, Scarne and Stars of Magic. I have to install some additional shelving this weekend to expand my magic closet. I'll post a picture then.

Where can I learn Magicians choice???(card force)

Check out the reviews of WTF ACAAN on the Magic Cafe. It was pretty much trashed because the method was too limited and wouldn't work well except under the best conditions. It seems that the video just showed "perfect" conditions that don't exist in the real world. That backs up what I said...

Where can I learn Magicians choice???(card force)

Rev nailed the answer with Mark Wilson's Complete Course. Great source for the basics of equivoque. There are a lot of card routines that use equivoque (won't name them because it exposes the method). If you want to force a single card from a deck, Rich Ferguson has a routine called Deck...

    Black Playing cards

Let me know if you get the deck, I've got a great routine with the Jokers. The gold ones were never sold but just used for promotions.

    Black Playing cards

Magician's like the color black? It makes us feel dark and somwhat mysterious? Actually, I typically use red or blue Bicycles occasionally deep blue and every once in a while white or black. I love the Arcane design -- the white, the back and the gold.

How to advance in card magic??

Royal Road is more difficult to read than Card College because Royal Road was written in the 1950s while Card Colege was written in the 2000s. You asked how to advance and Casey told you the answer. Nonetheless, I get the sense that regardless of what anyone tells you, you aren't going to get...

Is revealing magic tricks on Youtube legal???

I disagree. To be blatently honest, the rest of your post is what passes on the internet as pseudo-intellectualism but in fact is nothing more than meaningless drivel. Yes, there is a distinction between ethics, morality and codes of conduct - but those distinctions are meaningless here...

    A Variety

For stage magic, get Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. It has cards, coins, sponge balls, billiard balls, rope magic, mentalism, illusions and lots more.

Don't use any glues. They won't work. Any clear matte finish spray paint will do. The options I've heard the most are: 1) Hairspray (not the pump type) and 2) Magicians Wax or Chapstick (spread very thinly). I've got a bunch of old cards and will try out a couple of options this weekend.

Chris Kenner's book "Totally Out of Control" ?!

The book is out of print, so you will have to buy it used. A copy in very good condition is for sale on the Magic Cafe for $65 plus shipping. You need 50 posts to be able to see the Books for Sale section. The book typically goes for $60 to $65 with shipping.

    Thoughts on these books?

Royal Road is a great book. Some of the descriptions are a little hard to follow, but the book is great. My favorites are: Poker Player's Picnic Do as I Do Intuition With Cards Backslip Force Ewephindit The Educated Cards Everywhere and Nowhere
