I have a question regarding wax.

The wax should work. I like the dots because they are easy to get the right amount. That should be enough thread. What are you using to learn the routines from?

I have a question regarding wax.

Wax is used to attach the thread to objects. I like Mesika Wax which is 100% pure white bees wax pellets. You can probably find it less expensive in a craft store in that it is used to make candles.

How to keep rope from fraying?

If it melts, it is synthetic. If not, it is either cotton or hemp.

    Romantic ideas

The risk here is making it seem like a "trick." I don't think it is a good idea to use playing cards in a proposal. The trick needs to make sense in the context you are doing it. One idea is Fire Flight by Peter Loughran - http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S9058 OK, the video over emphasizes...

    Magic for Middle Schoolers Problem!

To me a "gig" means a paid performance that is fully scripted and planned out. You know what routines you are going to do and in what order and exactly what you are going to say. Think about if someone went to a play, arrived late and asked the actors "can you do that scene in the beginning...

Mastermind Deck vs. One Way Force?

Surprisingly (based on the number of gaff decks I do own), I don't have one. At the price, I would only get it if I had a specific need for it. I can easily force a card using a classic force or using a half deck of force cards (force cards at the top, indifferent cards at bottom) where I can...

Mastermind Deck vs. One Way Force?

The Mastermind Deck is Chris Kenworthy's version of the Henry Hardin's "Peerless Monte Cristo Cards" sold in 1909 for $3 (about $75 today adjusted for inflation). Each card is specially printed and cannot be examined by the audience. There is no rough and smooth (like an invisible deck) or...

How to keep rope from fraying?

If the rope is synthetic, then you can heat the end over a flame (just hold it over, don't have it touch the flame) and that fuses the end. If the rope is natural (and will catch on fire), then you can use electrical tape, duct tape (cut it to size) or cloth first aid tape.

Looking for T shirt and gaff deck please advise :-)

I've seen the split cards (maybe one or two of them) in the Bicycle Blue Gaff Deck (the one that comes with Simon Lovell's Packet Killer not the Ellusionist gaff deck). I've never seen a whole deck of those cards. I know you can custom order them for $2 each on Marty Martini's site...

    Some Advice....About Bad Gigs

Luis: Great story and great advice. I'm not sure about asking for a picture of the stage in advance -- they probably didn't figure out where it was going to go until they started setting up. A better idea is to ask them about general conditions (inside or outside, lighting, number of people...

how to change all cards of the deck to a specific one?

Enjoy the performance and mystery for what it is. Knowing the method will ruin it. The effect sounds like it is based on the routine Rainbow Miracles in Nick Trost's Subtle Card Creations, Volume 3 (which will explain the selection process). Lennart Green markets this effect as "Stolen...

    Concerning..Magic (shocker)

There are different schools of thought on this. John Bannon very much advocates just saying what you are doing - even while acknowledging that Eugene Burger calls that style "narrating the adventures of the props in the magician's hands." If all you talk about is what you are doing, what is...

    Concerning..Magic (shocker)

Get Anneman's Practical Mental Magic and Fulves Self-Working Mental Magic. Also, the mental magic section in Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic has some great routines. If you want to go the DVD route, check out Rich Furgeuson's This is Mentalism 1 & 2 and Nate Kranzo's Boondock Mentalism.

    Concerning..Magic (shocker)

Your question shouldn't only apply to gimmicked tricks. Rather, it should apply to all of your props. Let me explain. Rule 1. The performer must be in control of your performance. A spectator should only touch props when you want them to touch the props and in the manner you dictate...

    Change Bag, Best Type?

I have a repeat (it has three compartments) bag with a zipper and the wire flip. I have no problems with the smoothness in the flip. I get most of my magic props at Penguin Magic or MJM Magic. They are pretty responsive is you have questions about products before purchasing them. I also...
