I wouldn't try to hustle them out of their money. I would perform and try for tips. The only way I would get money from them by "hustling" would be to tell them that there's no way they could win and make a game out of it. That way I'm not really cheating them :)

Usually I say that I learned it from another magician. If it's an original trick (even though there aren't many) I'll say I made it myself. But I mostly tell them I learned from another magician and it's true. :)

I think you should have a video. It would really help sell the trick. Film them on a cell phone, I'm pretty sure you have one. Don't freak out about the video quality, any video is better than no video. :)
