Am I misinterpreting the site, or is that 5$? 5$! Gah! *Runs away screaming madly*

Jason Soll's Free Tutorials: The Athena

Agreed. And as Sinful said, crazy awesome of you to do these for free. You have my respect man.

How long have you been doing magic?

I've always got things like 'Marvin the Magician's first magic kit' for christmas and suchlike, as long as I can remember. However I really got serious around two years ago. I remember getting my first deck of bikes around easter '07. I was fourteen years of age at last count, though education...

    Manipulation

I'm pretty sure this was posted on a different thread quite recently. Still, absolutely brilliant. The ending killed me.

Totally Out of Control - Better left unreplicated?

Just because people don't think about the long term goals doesn't mean they shouldn't. Because when they do, it improves things. You may indeed. Everybody is going to react differently, but you're never going to change somebody's life with something like Tivo 2. You may say that this is...

Totally Out of Control - Better left unreplicated?

This is a fair point, however it doesn't justify doing so. Yes, using the latest vacuum might be more convenient than cleaning by hand, but when you do, you sacrifice a little electricity and contribute to global warming. Same with driving a car. Quicker, easier, but does this make it right...

Totally Out of Control - Better left unreplicated?

Guys, Praetorite has a very good point here. I'll give you an example: one of my favourite tricks of all time is from TOoC, namely Sybil the Trick. It's brilliant, and I love it in every possible way ;) Now how many people here regularly perform Sybil the Trick? A few, I would guess, not many...

    Cards, Cards, and More Cards...

When I want to change to a different deck, I will end one trick with a deck vanish. I then tend to perform a little coin or other object magic, just to add a gap, before pulling out the other deck. I wouldn't recommend randomly swapping decks with no logic behind doing so, as this is very...

    Cards, Cards, and More Cards...

Pearce, welcome to Theory11, hope it's a good stay. Datskanars, Pearce has a good point. Different cards are good for different things and it depends how long you want them to last. I'm not an expert, but have heard some pretty awesome things about the Aladdins, alongside very few bad things...

    Cards, Cards, and More Cards...

Personally, I just go with standard bikes. Yes, just plain old red/blue rider backs. I have 1 deck of Black Tigers that I save for my finale on special occasions, and a deck of Shadow Masters which I practice with. I have no complaint with bikes, and feel custom cards are mostly unnecessary...

    Your Opinion

As Sinful said, it looked good. I also have very little experience with bill switches, so I'm not best qualified to give this advice. However, the position of the hand during the change does look very fishy. If possible, possibly try to make that a little fairer. Only complaint really.

    Where can I buy this?

It IS NOT, but is similar to, Derren Brown's Out of this World, found on disk 2 of the Devil's Picturebook. Can be done with a borrowed deck, impromptu, spectator can shuffle. The best thing about Derren's one though, is that there's no swapping of colours or anything half way through. The...

    "Street" Magic

I have done street magic once or twice without a camera, however I normally do exactly the same thing in school. I stay in the school library after school for a while (my mum's the librarian) most nights, and usually just wander around with a deck of cards in my hand, chatting to my mates etc...

Derren Brown - Evening Of Wonders

I saw this same show live a few years back and it was even better live! It doesn't sound possible, I know, but it's true. They had some extra bits in there, including a brilliant card trick and some hypnosis. Ya gotta love the guy. Though I really enjoyed watching it again, because, two years...

    I Know Kung Fu

I really liked it, what got across to me more than the trick itself (and I don't know whether this was intentional or not, but it worked) was the atmosphere it created. Atmosphere might be the wrong word, actually, as that implies tense and dramatic. This had a really cheery, almost primary feel...

Simple Card Trick to Teach A Friend

I use it as a demonstration of rapport, explaining that two people can often be 'in tune' with each other. Not particularly original, I know, but it works. I haven't tried this yet, but I'm thinking about using it as an opener, a good way of introducing myself to the spectator and making...

Simple Card Trick to Teach A Friend

I agree with this. I have been using the key card principle today, and I blew absolutely everybody away (sorry if this sounds like bragging, I'm trying to get a point across). When people dismiss tricks because they're selfworking or simple, there's something wrong. Honestly, how many people use...

    Ultimate Showdown of Magicians

In my opinion, Derren Brown is about as good as it gets. He is my idol in magic, and anyone that disagrees with me shall feel the sharp teeth of vengeance sinking into their chubby rear of ignorance. Feel free to post your own opinions about him, though. ;)
