I'd imagine uniformity of action. As long as you have the same grip when you pinky count as you do when you hold the deck, it shouldn't matter.

don't be so general. What if you're a card magician who has selections chosen/returned in the middle of a dribble? I usually use the classic pass, imply because it is one of the fastest ways to transpose the two packets, which means you require less misdirection.

showing your hole card in 5 card stud. i've experimented and it can be used as a 2 for 2 switch, but the much is far better for multiple switches.
