No, it's nothing like holding your breath but it does need misdirection. I would say this is definitely worth it. I have only ever used this effect three times because you need the right atmosphere and it needs alot of work but I would say that Control is more than definitely worth it.

How about if it was by the door so everyone could see it on the way out? You could leave the card on a table and the piece pinned(?) to the wall by the door and invite anyone and everyone to check it afterwards.

I'd say magic purely because whilst doing magic, you can be multitasking massively eg. doing the pass, planning your next move whilst keeping eye contact and talking to a spectator.
