    Daniel Madison's Identity

What about for Rip? Is Rip practical and can I re-use the gimmick, or is it something I make for each time I perform?

    Daniel Madison's Identity

Are the gimmicks in Identity something that a hypothetical lazy college student in the middle of nowhere could get materials for, or do they require that said hypothetical lazy college student in the middle of nowhere be near a hardware store (which is also apparently in the middle of...

The Art of Impossibility Part 1

Absolutely. A lot of the time, magicians forget that magic is for people--normal people. They don't get to see the other side of the curtain. And yet they do. They get to see something that we rarely see. They feel true astonishment.

The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings. Hands down one of the best books I own.

What would you recommend a magician to buy?

Perhaps a deck of cards would be useful to have as a magician... But in all seriousness, I would highly recommend the Classic Magic of Larry Jennings. Yes, it's "old school," but there are ideas in there that have enhanced my magic beyond anything I would have expected.

TED : Lennart Green - Close-Up Card Magic

Lennart Green is phenomenal. Easily one of the most skilled modern card workers, and one of the best performers overall.

    You guys (gals) play nice

That all sounds really awesome. But let me tell you, it's been slow around here without the Henderson to keep the conversations moving. Hope England and Russia go well. Can't wait to hear about them.

Saw a great mentalism performance tonight

Tonight, Scott Xavier came to my college and did a mentalism show which was quite good. He started with some nice fork bending and moved into some cool "mind reading" routines. He was a really good performer and handled the audience quite well. I talked to him afterward and apparently he...

    I need some advice

Hey, Chris. I guess the first think I'll say is that a lot of the time, it depends on venue. But probably the most important thing is that you have to put yourself outside of your comfort zone. You should be yourself, but be a really nice charismatic approachable version of yourself...

Credit will take the form of the reaction you get from your audience. The less they know, the better.

Here's another good one. Even if you are a flourisher, I might recommend to keep this in mind. After seeing Jackson 5, your audience might be a little suspicious if you do a Classic Triumph routine.

    The Cardician's Bible Says...

I really like how Erdnase refers to the display of skill as "vanity." Because I feel like that's what it's about a lot of the time. I mean, I know sometimes one just flourishes out of habit. What I really try to take away from this is that we should be, if nothing else, consistent to our...

In lieu of recent conversations, I thought it might be nice to post this from the Card Man's Good Book. It was true in 1901 and it's true now. Listen to the S.W. Revere the S.W.
