Other people in Vancouver are charging somewhere from $150 all the way up to $500-$600. I updated my ad, and now its at $50, which I think is reasonable. I emailed my client back and she said that the people were still talking about me after I left, and that she would recommend me to anyone who...
Before I say ANYTHING, take Jamie's advice over mine.
This is what I said at a recent fundraiser event where I worked purely off of tips. I was told to do magic to people who were sitting at tables.
"Hey you guys, I've been hired for today's entertainment and was wondering if you guys would...
That's sounds really interesting. When you're talking about different sets, are you saying different styles? (coins, card, etc) Or do you mean three sets of different ''kinds'' of card magic. (transpo's, stories, etc)
thanks for all your help Jamie!

Hey Jamie,
Thanks for your input. The only problem is that I don't know if I'm worth $150. I know that I give a fantastic performance and I do get a lot of screams, shrieks, and even manage to make people freeze. The only thing is that I'm 14. Would you be willing to pay $150/hr for a 14 year old?
I do know it's really cheap. I also know that I'm a pretty good magician. But is anything more than $100/hr worth too much for a 14 year old magician? Really? Jamie D. Grant suggested that I do nothing less than $150, but I think it may be too much.
i only know that if you tell someone to tell you the truth and you look into their eyes. their eyes look glance to the left. or to the right, i can't remember...
Thanks Jamie! I'm trying to go with a ''Vancouver's cheapest magician'' theme (Chris recommended it). Would $50 be too much, should I stick with $25/hr? I've been doing close-up card magic for 2 years and just recently learned Chris' Coins Across routine (not sure if you've seen it). I do magic...
Hey guys!
This is a very personal question. Since we all have different performance levels etc. I'll tell you what I do and what level I'm at.
- Two Card Monte (never been caught)
- Phoenix Effect (:)
- ACR
- Erdnase Color Change (very well)
- Shapeshifter
- Topsy Turvy
- an ace...
haha yeah I'm going for cheap. Here's my craigslist ad.

I want to be Vancouver's cheapest magician and still provide quality.
thanks you guys! I had another gig today at someone's BBQ and it went fantastic! It was REALLY hard to do a Braue Reversal when the guy had sunglasses on, couldn't tell if I had misdirected him to look at my face. He seemed surprised when the trick was over, so I guess I did alright!
to take care of a bicycle deck:
- don't keep it in hot climates. They will warp from the heat and become mis-shapen. If you have them in your pocket for too long in the heat, they'll warp. To keep them from warping, go and get a joe porper card clip...

I'm not an advanced magician, only 2 years in. 1 hour show makes a $25 bill. If it is more than an hour away, an extra 10/20 bucks, depending on distance. Fundraisers are free, I then work on tips. I made $70 alone in tips today in an hour. :)
it could DEFINITELY be the cards you are using. Do not bother buying any special decks off of T11 or Ellusionist. Just buy some regular bicycle Rider Backs off of here. You might find some in India, just make sure they aren't a cheap knockoff.
