Right, so as a magician, one might do a trick that Ricky Jay does, but he or she wouldn't do every routine in the set as one that Ricky Jay did. Two pianists are allowed to play the same piano concerto, but wouldn't necessarily play all of the same pieces as each other.

The way I've always thought about it is that magicians are like concert pianists. They don't necessarily compose their own pieces, in fact, they almost exclusively play other people's pieces, but each has his or her own style, his or her own stage presence. It's the same with magicians...
