    Unwritten Rules of the Stage

You are absolutely right that I'm probably omitting somethings from the list. The list is composed of things I've learned while in the company of other performers at the Magic Castle, and Vegas. These aren't things that are ever taught. You'll never find them in the back of any "how to"...

LoL Really? No that photo was taken during the middle of the performance! I was trying to goad the audience into cheering louder by pantomime that I couldn't "hear" them! Thanks for the complement! Best with the nail. Remember Hygiene! it's the most important part of that act! NEVER...

Anate has been the result of more "mind melting experiences" at work than any other effect that I've performed. I've ate fire for my coworkers to less reactions than what I've got with Anate and fire eating is by far more dangerous and arguably advanced skill. Brilliant!

    Who here has Jerry Nuggets?

Jesus tap dancing Christ on a pogo stick do we honestly NEED another thread on the subject? Wasn't there just a thread about this like a week ago? Further doesn't this belong in the products section? X.x; I try to be even tempered as I can be but sometimes the redundancy of the...

    Poll: Quality Forum Response

I imagine those that don't necessarily agree with the limited options given on such a broad subject with so many variables to consider are probably sand bagging their answers.

Err, I am actually shocked this hasn't gotten more responses than it did. --bump--

    Drunk XCM?

I don't think performing anything (magic or otherwise) is advisable while drunk. I think it's bad form and ill advised.

My Friend has Dug Himself Into a Hole

I really have difficulty trying to shave down my effects in time, not stretching them. Try adjusting your patter 45 seconds really isn't that long of a time to kill.

    Poll: Quality Forum Response

the 80/20 rule? Hm, true. Shame that wasn't a poll option. I think I could have gone with that one. The wording of the other selections were a bit crass for my liking.

    Poll: Quality Forum Response

I think that this poll based upon that quoted line above has gone beyond the scope of the answers it limits me to. There is no way on earth I can quantify an answer based on all the forums that I partipate in or visit based on the poll selections given above. I think it's like trying to...

    Unwritten Rules of the Stage

Magical Obligations We are, as performers ourselves, obligated to a certain set of rules; more so a set code of conduct when we are in a show environment, be it our own show or the show of someone else’s. These rules are much like the rules of the playground. Never written but always...

Criss Angel Continues To Embarass The Magic Community

I apologize for the "choose your words wisely" crap. It's not an excuse, but It was early morning when I wrote that, I had not nearly enough sleep and was in a bit of a prickish mood. I'm afraid I came down a bit harshly on you and for no reason. I could have easily made my point without...

Criss Angel Continues To Embarass The Magic Community

The diffrence between Amazing Johnathan and Angel is with Johnathan, it's in the act, and the people expect it.

Criss Angel Continues To Embarass The Magic Community

If you are going to sell a magic show based off of a magicians name brand or name then you'd expect nothing but the finest material. Not anything that you'd describe as "not as good as I'd thought." If you are going to go watch a Cirq production you have a certain level of expectations...

One of the most RARE deck of cards...

I suppose part of over defending yourself even in the face of being wrong is the eternal need to have the last word. So I'll give you that which you seek the most. That last word. I'm not engaging in this for the purpose of soliciting a long and drawn out flame war. I was just trying to...

    Helder Guimaraes FISM Act

Yes. Actually, yes I would. I personally would want to create and own my own award winning act, not perform someone elses. I think there certainly is an element of review for the sake of understanding that would go into developing such an act. But not review for the sake of performance...

Sarcasm is delivered by tone of voice, not words being said. Seeing as this is text based... I'm just trying to work with what you give me.

It is at the very least tactless. I would even go as far as to suggest insensitive. Probably why you have no problems making such a comment. You don't understand the emotional turmoil someone goes through while battling the cancer or what their loved ones have to deal with during and after...

One of the most RARE deck of cards...

One Card Wonder, If I may offer my advice. "Quit while you're ahead." You made an inappropriate, and very tactless comment that you thought was funny, witty, or something close to that. Some people have lost loved ones to cancer, and they don't consider it a laughing matter. It's easy to...
