    Essay: Improving Your Act

(Continued From Above) IV. Don’t Run Stock Every time you buy a magic trick it comes with instructions on how to perform it, and usually some patter to use. If you perform the trick as it is written in the instructions and use the patter line for line then you are “running stock.” If...

    Essay: Improving Your Act

(Continued From Above) Like anything else that you want to do well, you should get in the habit of practicing magic daily. Most working professionals acts are either 25 minutes long, 45 minutes long, or 55 minutes long. I’ve known girls who spend more time in the bathroom getting ready for...

    Essay: Improving Your Act

I have recently posted a thread in which I issued a challenge to anyone seeking to improve themselves as a magician. I admitted in that thread that most of those thoughts I quickly banged out in a few minutes were results from a conversation I had with a colleague about the presentation of...

    I Challenge You...

The point isn't to post the videos for everyone else to see. The point is to film yourself for critical review. Practice videos, for personal improvement, should RARELY been seen by the public, let alone the internet. This is why there are so many horrible YouTube videos. People are posting...

Would you mind sending your hate/spam/flame mail to someone via private messages instead of clogging up my threads with this mindless crap? Please? Thank you! Lets get this back ontopic with valid and intelligent responses.

    I Challenge You...

This idea started out as a casual conversation with a colleague of mine with regards to our performance character. After giving it some thought I wanted to bring it here for consideration. This is a raw version of some dis-connected thoughts I had resulting from aforementioned conversation...

Any skill tips on the following:

Although I can't find an earlier referance at this point in time, I KNOW for a fact that the Buck twins didn't originate that fan. They probably just made it well known among the younger generation right now. For starters I was trying to do it years ago when I was a young teenager and I...

    Lance Burton Copy

What? Somebody in magic steal another performers act, trick, persona, or image? Blasphemy! That would never happen.

    Magicians cast/crew getting attention too...

No you wouldn't. You could thank them but you wouldn't want them on stage. What I am talking about is purely the production team. Dancers, assistants, box jumpers, handlers, etc. Anyone who was on stage for any point in time durding the production returns to the stage at curtain call.

    Magicians cast/crew getting attention too...

David only has about 20 to 30 crew. If you had THAT sized crew working for you then chances are good you wouldn't be on this forum, nor would you be participating in or asking this kind of questions. However, to counter your argument you could do a stage call for them. You would simply...

    WH - THREAD Live Session

Wayne, I love your presentation of thread. I run a simular effect but I don't remove the thread from my eye. I pull from my stomach. I call the effect a "belly ribon" but I've also heard it called a swami thread too. Of course my method is geek and uses no gimicks. I'd love to...

What are some "must-have" accessories and gimmicks?

I could probably write an essay on this, but I'll stick to a short version here. 1. Fire Wallet and or Assassin Wallet 2. PK Ring. 3. Magicians Wax 4. Loops and or Invis. Thread. 5. Deck of standard Blue or Red rider back Bikes. 6. Coin Effect (I prefer Hopping Halvs, but any will do)...

    Anybody know anything about magnets?

[edit] Costs The current[update] cheapest permanent magnets, allowing for field strengths, are flexible and ceramic magnets, but these are also among the weakest types. Neodymium-iron-boron (NIB) magnets are among the strongest. These cost more per kilogram than most other magnetic materials...

    Anybody know anything about magnets?

[edit] Magnetization and demagnetization Ferromagnetic materials can be magnetized in the following ways: Heating the object above its Curie temperature, allowing it to cool in a magnetic field and hammering it as it cools. This is the most effective method, and is similar to the industrial...

    Anybody know anything about magnets?

[edit] Physics of ferromagnetism Main article: Ferromagnetism A ferromagnet, like a paramagnetic substance, has unpaired electrons. However, in addition to the electrons' intrinsic magnetic moments wanting to be parallel to an applied field, there is also in these materials a tendency for...

    Anybody know anything about magnets?
