What deck do you like to perform with? Why?

just red bicycle decks typically. I do a couple of card ripping tricks so I opt for the cheapest usable deck.

    Monarchs Family

Sorry, this is not much of a thought provoking thread. I was recently going through my collection of decks and came to the realization that I have acquired all of the different decks in the Monarchs series. Pretty cool. I hadn't really thought about it, but it's kinda neat. Top Row: Original...

    Biddle Trick presentation ideas?

The trouble I've had is that I can't decide if it's better to play the magician in trouble route or the master of the cards. Often when I do the magician in trouble, people really buy into it and unless I make it obvious, they rarely put it together that it was all part of the show. They make...

    Biddle Trick presentation ideas?

I use a bit about an old movie called Maverick where the dad told his son that he could thinking about a card and just cut right to it. My challenge is choosing the best ending. Though not the best example of the performance (they were quite drunk and it was a super loud and busy environment)...

    What's up with this?

Ya I only do over age 15. My material and patter just won't fly for kids. Magicians who can do kids shows well have some serious extra skills. I'm just not that good at managing young kids. ....and they're sticky.... When you pull a coin from a 5 year old's ear, they just think that their ear...

How much do magicians usually earn performing? How much do you earn?

And a good way to know if you are worth what you charge, is if you are getting repeat work. If nobody is rebooking you for next year, your value may be a factor.

How much do magicians usually earn performing? How much do you earn?

For me, I hated trying to guess and judge how much an event was worth and trying to figure out what their budget was and price accordingly. Then at one of the local magic club meetings, some of the guys were talking about being undercut by other local magicians. They said they felt like because...

    Performing Professionally

For me, I was always interested in magic from age 8 - 20. But then I started to learn more. I worked in a restaurant when I was 21-23. During this time I would show my tables magic to increase my tips. Then people started asking if I did shows and asked for my business card. Eventually I decided...

How to keep from ripping cards while splitting them

@Derek Humberson I had no splitting experience and downloaded this video: https://www.theory11.com/marketplace/blake-vogt/split-session-v1-speed-split I follow his method and have very little problems. When splitting, it seems the motion required is counter intuitive. Give it a go.

    Perfect Square or Double Cross?

For me, I'm all about my show. I would make a decision based on "does this effect fill a gap in my show". So for the cube, it would need to fit the theme and message of my show or walk around sets. I won't typically buy an effect unless I know I could use it, and how I would use it. It sounds...

TT proper technique, tips, and ideas

Oh man I love the TT. There are LOT of uses for it. You really have to think out of the box. You can make sugar/salt vanish and appear, cigarettes vanish, bills switch, and on and on. The best part of a TT is that you can also make these things appear from almost anywhere you can reach. As...
