    Cleaning playingcards

I agree about getting a new deck. It will be much better. This reminds me of one of my favorite commercials of all time: haha That said, I have 'successfully' cleaned a deck using a microfiber (read soft) cloth and individually rubbing each card until the oil is removed as much as possible...

    San Francisco Magic Scene

Thanks! Ya just looking on their websites, I can tell which one seems to be touristy. I'm curious about the Jay Alexander show. Seems interesting

I am collecting playing cards. Am I abnormal?

Collecting is a great hobby! Usually when I buy decks, I buy two or three so I can open one and keep some sealed. Someone on the forums here posted a really smart idea about storing cards with silica packets. These help absorb nearby moisture. A smart idea that I've started to do as a...

    San Francisco Magic Scene

Hey gang, In march I will be heading out to San Francisco for a week. Google has informed me that there are two magic shops there, but I'm curious if anyone has any more information about any shows out there. Anyone from out that way?

Is exposure a significant problem in magic?

So many good thoughts already. I wonder if in the not too distant future, a larger wave of magicians will start clamping down on their material again, instead of just trying to make a buck (As many many fantastic magicians already do keep hold of their secrets). To be honest, the best secrets...

Saturday Night Contest - Impossible Snapshot

Wait a second... This can't win, otherwise it's not impossible. But if it does not win, then it was impossible, which means that it should win.... *snap* my brain broke

    Can't understand books?

Great point. A long while back I purchased an ebook that had little 10-20 second video inserts throughout the text as well as diagrams. That was a really neat way to learn.

    Fate Of My Channel

Oh man I'm also bummed about the changes for my channel. Unfortunately I'm going to lock this thread as it's not magic related, but I hear you man, I hear you.

Saturday Night Contest - Create A Flourish!

My goodness. Just had a chance to watch these. Nice work everyone. I don't understand the physics behind this. And @ZackF Thanks for doing that. A good reminder for me to take some more risks. And of course, congrats Cerca Trova! Impressive work!

How do you go from "a guy who knows a few tricks" to a "magician"?

I remember exactly when. I did Healed and Sealed for some friends at a party. After that, everyone started calling me a magician. Interestingly, for me it was by reputation.

    GiG questions

Okay, here is my thoughts, but keep in mind - I'm from Canada so my cultural bias is very much at play. In a restaurant, it is different than busking "Hey if you enjoyed the show, please consider dropping some money in the hat" If you approached a strangers and did street magic for someone and...

Who do you think is the best magic teacher today?

When I was just getting into things, I remember that Oz Pearlman did a great job and was very thorough for someone who knew nothing.
