    Gettin started

    Very few of Criss Angel's effects can be done for a live audience, almost all of them (especially in more recent episodes) use camera tricks and stooges. So most Criss Angel effects you see can't actually be done for a real audience. I believe many David Copperfield illusions could be done...

    Is it just me...

    I don't agree with these sort of 'poetic' sayings and statements. They sound inspirational at first but when you take a closer look they often turn out to fairly meaningless. It is perfectly reasonable to say that a sleight or effect is too hard, especially if isn't all that impressive to...

    Smoke & Mirrors : A Cordial Invitation :: Friday, Aug. 1

    The more I look at the Smoke and Mirrors decks the more I agree with this. If your card handling is sloppy and awkward and you just perform for a webcam and get these decks to look cool then they probably won't work for you. If your card handling and presentation is very smooth and confident...

    XB or Everythingelse?

    If you're a beginner to flourishes don't get Everythingelse, the teaching in the flourishes 101 section is very poor and I seriously doubt a beginner could learn much from it. I would recommed either XB or The Encyclopedia, both of these teach the basics but The Encyclopedia has many advanced...

    Is it just me...

    The easiest tricks for me are Collectors and Hoffzy Osbourne. I think these are the most practical tricks and can be used in front of a live audience. Hand to Mouth is also easy and practical, although I already do a card to mouth so I never used it. I wouldn't bother with TiVo 2 and...

    Smoke & Mirrors : A Cordial Invitation :: Friday, Aug. 1

    I kind of like them, they are very classy, i'll be picking up 3 of each. I would definitely prefer it if the swirling pattern on the back covered the whole of the card. Why the hell would I want DD on my cards?

    Your Favourite Effect

    The trick that consistently gets the best reaction for me is Triumph, I think it's one of the most powerful effects possible with a regular deck of cards.

    What are the different skill levels?

    This is something that is not easy to define. This is my opinion on the subject. All magicians should perform sleights confidently and smoothly. A good magician has an understanding of people, he/she will know what effect and presentation a particular person will enjoy and has an...

    Alternative to the 4 for 4 Switch?

    Several of the tricks I frequently perform use the 4 for 4 Switch, it's always worked well for me so far but it could be difficult to perform in some situations. E.g. If i'm standing and the spectators are sittting down and can see under the cards then they will probably see the switch. The...

    Advice Needed

    This could easily be achieved with a double lift and a snap change. If you've come up with a better method it would be cool to see it. I don't know how much the window would add to the effect, it could be 'too impossible'. When they see the Joker change into their selection they may just...

    Opinion?

    Why are you asking about some guy with a few videos on Youtube? I didn't like most of the changes, some of the clean ups looks very unnatural. I watched a couple of the other videos and they all seem quite mediocre, they don't stand out from any of the thousands of videos on Youtube...

    Split Spades Better?

    The Guardians are some of the worst cards i've ever used, both Bicycle and Tally Ho's last way longer than them. I don't know about Centurions, the reviews seem to be mixed. The Black Ghost deck looks cool but like many E decks seems to be really thick which makes multiple lifts very more...

    Gamblers Cop // Performance Guide

    I originally learnt it using the middle finger but I switched to the ring finger when I got Dangerous. I think using the ring finger makes your hand look more relaxed, it does feel slightly awkward at first but I think you'll get used to it.

    D&D's Site Not Working

    Calm down... This happens from time to time, they're probably updating it or something. I don't see why you needed to make a thread for this.

    Chris Kenner's Shifty Question

    This version doesn't use the SWE Shift or a pass of any kind. I agree that you shouldn't be practicing it this much, after a while you just start to get frustrated and the practicing becomes unproductive. I would recommend watching the video and checking the finger positioning very carefully...

    My first effect

    The trick is decent, it's the sort of thing most people come up with when they start creating tricks. However, you do not handle the cards very well at all. Even your spread looks very awkward. You need to relax your hands. You also really need to work on your double lift, it's extremely...

    What's the point?

    The list wasn't a very good idea at all, it was just a thought. However, I stand by what I said on the Clip Shift. Why stop people using it, it's just another sleight. It just seems like sayin 'Best ACR with no diagonal palm shift'. It just puts somebody who has spent the time to learn the...

    What's the point?

    I agree to some extent. The battle system is great but certainly needs a bit of refinement. The most annoying thing to me is the incredibly specific challenges people make just so it suits them. I think something needs to be done about this. Perhaps you should be able to challenge somebody...

    Wisdom needed

    It would help if we knew what stage you are at now. What books and DVD's do you already have? Have you performed for people yet?

    Centurions vs. Guardians

    These threads are completely pointless. But.. I bought a few decks of Guardians and I wasn't impressed, I might try the Centurions some time but i'm fairly sure the finish is almost exactly the same.
