    Questions about Trilogy

Flourishes 101 teaches all the classic flourishes such as dribbles, shuffles, sybil, charlier cuts, one handed revolution etc. The 'moving fan' is called Under Pressure, if you can do a pressure fan you will find it quite easy, if you can't then it will be quite difficult. Keep in mind that...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

How has anyone been 'owned'? Joel has replied with his opinion which I appreciate however simply because he has replied does not mean everyone elses opinion is now irrelevant and wrong. If you aren't going to add anything constructive to the discussion then don't bother posting.

Saturday Night Contest - theory11 roundtable : Andrei Jikh

Do you often perform flourishes for a live audience? If you do, how do they respond to flourishing, do they get bored quite quickly or will they watch for quite some time?

    July 08 :: Purist.

Now that we seem to have defined a purist I was wondering why people choose to be one. For anyone who is a purist, why do choose to be one? Is it for convenience? i.e. it's much easier to just carry round 1 deck of cards that spectators are free to examine than having to worry about them...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I don't have anything else to say on the subject really. I appreciate the well thought out replies and you have raised some interesting points. I think putting stuff like 'laying down a double' in the media section would be a great idea. It could easily be done when they are filming a batch...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I perhaps didn't explain myself very well on this point. I was saying that just because an effect will fool a laymen doesn't automatically mean that it is of value to magicians. A magician is likely to already be aware of the sleights used as they are so widely known, so it will be of little...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I wasn't planning on replying to this thread anymore but you have some valid points. Ace Production vs Ace Cutting - There is a difference between the 2, I may have compared Ace Cut to an ace production before, I can't remember. If I did it wasn't the best comparison although that wasn't...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I disagree that there is no difference between 'created to be useful' and created to be a '1 on 1'. Five Speed was not created to be a 1 on 1, CK talks about the history of it and it seems quite clear that profit was not the motivation for creating it. Profit was the motivation for creating the...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I did not say he did it for a 'lofty, noble purpose' I said that it was not created to be a 1 on 1, it was created to be useful. Ace Cut seems like it was thrown together in a few mintues for the purpose of a 1 on 1. Missing Link, 5 Speed, Outjog Herrman shift, Unicoin etc are obviously far...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

Obviously all 1 on 1's are made to sell, T11 is a business and has to make money. However, when Chris Kenner created the 4 for 4 switch it was probably because he wanted a way to switch cards, he then decided that it was useful, it worked well and was good enough to be sold. With some of the...

    Solution for Sweaty Palms?

I have the opposite problem a lot of the time, my hands are way too dry. This makes it quite difficult to keep hold of cards when doing complex flourishes. Anyone else have this problem?

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I'm not talking about the older 1 on 1's, Missing Link is very good and got great reviews, i'm talking about the recent 1 on 1's such as Ace Cut, Triple Shuffle, Static. The problem is these 1 on 1's are not something you could incorporate in your routine forever, Ace cut is one of the...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I am not complaining that they don't fit my needs. I'm complaining because they are largely unoriginal and there is no way T11 can justify selling them for $5. Unicoin and Hellbound Spellbound did not interest me at all as I don't really do coin magic, however I did not complain about them...

    Your Performance Persona

I'm usually just myself, i'm often performing for people who know me so if I suddenly switched from my normal personality to a weird magician it wouldn't work. It also just wouldn't feel very natural. I often use some humour, I don't have any jokes or lines prepared but if something happens...

    Joe Paschall | Ace Cut

I have been very dissapointed with recent 1 on 1's and have not bought any of them. The latest 1 on 1 is just not worth it, a beginner could come up with a better ace production. There are also loads of way more impressive ace productions on Decknique and Youtube. I would like to see more...

    Daniel Madison

I'm not that bothered by limited releases, if somebody only wants to release their material to a small group of people that's their choice. It's just annoying when an effect is intentionally made to be 'underground'. I.e. everyone knows about it but only a few copies are released simply to make...

    Daniel Madison

What's the point of releasing 'underground' material. All that happens is a few people get it who then put it on ebay and sell it for loads. So the people who have the most money get the 'underground' stuff. That doesn't seem like a good idea for me. I think underground releases are stupid...

    False Assumptions About Magic...

I guess it's fairly helpful to new magicians, I don't entirely agree on point 3 though, it's very helpful to have a friend you show stuff to so they can give you an honest opinion on how good something looks and if you flash anything etc.

    Surfaced!

It's only just been released so nobody has it yet. All we really know is what we've seen from the trailer. It teaches the Clip shift and the 26 shift, which appears to be the clip shift with half the deck. There are 7 effects, most of them will probably use the clip shift.
