    A Word To The Wise

I've seen very few people who will do loads of unnecessary flourishes to cut the cards and very few people who would suggest that it's a good idea. It seems like you're kind of missing the point of the argument. Most people who use flourishes in their performances don't do loads of them within...

    "Uncut"?

When cards have been used in a Casino the corners will often be cut off. Uncut means the corners have not been cut off.

    A Word To The Wise

You're simply asserting this as being true when in many cases it isn't. As I said in my previous post, Daniel Madison uses a reasonably long flourish and it does not have a negative impact on the effect at all. After a card has been returned to the deck there is usually a pause anyway as you...

    A Word To The Wise

Stop trivialising it by calling it juggling. Most people who say they mix magic and flourishing do not force flourishing into an effect. They usually mean they include it in their magic performances i.e between effects or after they have finished doing magic. On some occasions flourishing...

What do YOU actually plan on doing with your life?

For me magic is just a hobby, although one that I take quite seriously. I'm quite happy to just perform for people I meet in College and in cafe's and bar's etc. I have no intention of becoming a professional magician. I don't see why you think 'performing for fun' isn't an appropriate answer...

    Trilogy Tricks reactions

They have never claimed it as original, I believe the unique part of their version is the addition of Simon Lovell's Floop.

    Tomorrow Baby

Nobody knows, it will probably be whenever Dan and Dave feel like it. Just check it sometime tommorow, you won't get it any sooner just because you order it the second the sites up.

    Tomorrow Baby

I'll be buying it tommorow, I don't see much point getting up early for it though, they'll probably all be posted together at the end of the day. I'm a bit annoyed about Smoke and Mirrors not being released at the same time but I guess it doesn't really matter.

    Need help with The Queens

Very good point, when I watch The Trilogy what amazes me most is not the effects themselves (although I think they're great) but the smoothness that they are done with, every single move is flawless. To me, that's what makes them impressive and fun to watch.

    Trilogy Tricks reactions

In most cases you probably won't get people running away and screaming using effects from The Trilogy but to me that doesn't really matter. I like to use Trilogy effects in a more relaxed atmosphere such as in a cafe or a bar. In these situations i'm going for 'Whoa, that's cool'...

    Street Magic Help

I don't have any real experience of street magic as it's not really my thing, I prefer performing in college, cafe's, bars etc but most of your questions apply to magic in most situations so I can hopefully help a bit. Reactions, If you're not too confident about your effects then try them on...

    Need help with The Queens

It's very easy to come up with poetic expressions like that but for the most part they aren't very helpful. It's easy to say just use misdirection but unfortunatley it's not always possible, especially when performing for a larger group. Some people will just stare at your hands. If you do...

Mystique - How much of it is impromptu?

You're going to get something else simply because a couple of the tricks have a minor setup that can quite easily be done in front of spectators?

Cardists/Flourishers - Are you also deck collectors?

I have a habit of correcting people on stuff like that as well, they generally don't take it too well.

I got mine really fast, I think it was in about 20 minutes.

Cardists/Flourishers - Are you also deck collectors?

Sorry, I have absolutley no idea what you're talking about.:p I noticed it as most people in Britain will say 'couldn't care less' but many American's appear to say 'could care less'. Not that it really matters. I don't think i'd ever buy a deck of cards I don't plan on using, if I bought a...

theory11 SNC - roundtable discussion - Tom Isaacson

Here's another question I just thought of. When performing magic do you try and get your audience to believe that what you're doing is 'real' i.e. Trying to convince them you really can do magic, have supernatural powers, are psychic etc or do you let them know it's skill based. Or perhaps...

theory11 SNC - roundtable discussion - Tom Isaacson

Creating magic is something that has never come naturally to me so i'd be interested to know about the process you go through when creating effects. Do you one day decide you're going to make an effect, decide what the effect will be then work out a method? Or is it just a more gradual process...

    Color By Daniel Madison

I suspect you are either using to much force when doing the move or doing it in the wrong place, either of these will cause you to drop it. Watch the DVD very carefully and check your finger positioning.

    Some tricks

I've noticed that parents and close friends and family are more likely to catch you when you're doing sleight of hand. When people do sleights they often 'tense up' and sometimes look a bit awkward as they're trying to hide it, most average audiences will not notice this but as friends and...
