Has to been done in long pants. You can't perform it in shorts. There is another version, which can be done with shorts, called Animated Shoelaces(I think), but I heard it was horrible.

Since you already have CC1, I say just get Card College 2. And before you go get book 2, make sure you've learned everything you can from Card College 1. If your low on the cash, get Royal Road to Card Magic, then Expert at the Card Table. (like said above)

If you want a vanishing deck, just buy it. Also there are like a 1,024,950,054, reviews on it, but I say just buy it. You won't be dissapointed.

I think I've figured it out. I'm not sure if it is the exact same method that DM uses, but it mimics his change. And yes, it's impromptu.

I heard that trick was awesome, but it's not going to look very good on video, unless you go out and perform it for a crowd.
