I've been collecting decks of playing cards for a relatively short time but have noticed something...many of those decks have a number, usually three digits, on the tuck case. Bicycle has 808, for example. Other numbers I have noticed on decks include, but are not limited to, 128, 727, 258, 310...

I read on various decks about different finishes such as "air-cushioned finished" and others. I don't know what they mean! Would someone give a list, with explanations/definitions of the different finishes available today as well as historically?

For whatever it's worth, the person I talked to at the local B&N apparently was speaking out of abject ignorance because they restocked last week and I ended up picking up 2 decks of Unions, 2 decks of white Artisans, 2 decks of blue Tycoons, and 2 decks of Contrabands. A good day.

Definitely plan on trying your suggestions. I did have an "eureka" moment today. I watched a promotional video for a deck of cards and the person demonstrating the cards did a thumb fan which did it in a way that wasn't shown on any of the tutorials. After multiple viewings I tried it the way...

Thank you for the advice. I do practice it whenever I can. And I wasn't joking to say I've been using theory11 cards. No clumping. I even keep a deck at work on which to practice whenever I need a "mind break".

Both Targets in the city where I live both have them on the endcaps facing electronics.

Maybe it's limited to just this one B&N because it was the manager who told me this in no uncertain terms. It would be closest local source to me here in Tallahassee since both Targets are across town from where I live.

My apologies up front if this is the incorrect forum for this. I am a newbie when it comes to card manipulation. When I was in my teens through my thirties when I enjoyed just performing card and coin tricks just for the heck of it I pretty much was straight-forward with it. No flourishes...
