    Magic at the Movies!

Hi guys! So I work at a movie theater, and my manager asked me if I would like to perform at our staff meeting in July. I thought it would be fun to do something movie/Hollywood related to fit the theme of my job. My question is if anyone here has a movie theater themed magic idea or can point...

What to do with old cards

Or you can donate them to a school or organization for card games. I'm sure they are still in good enough shape to play a card game with.

What do you do outside of magic?

Learn Spanish!!! I really enjoy speaking the language, and Latin culture fascinates me. They have great music, dancing, and other fun traditions that are more greatly appreciated with the ability to speak the language!

What do you do outside of magic?

All these responses are interesting. My other hobby is foreign language learning. I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, and I am currently learning French. I love using these languages in magic and performing in them!

    Routines with Memory?

Michael Weber teaches a great "memory" in his lecture and his lecture packet "Memorease." Weber's material is pretty exclusive, but if you can find some it is great!

Saturday Night Contest - Backstage Pass

I guess it's more of a control. It's called the losing Control by lee Asher. It doesn't translate in video well because it's kind of an optical thing. I understand that it's not a normal pass, but it does involve switching two halves of the deck. Take it how you want, I thought it was worth a shot.

My Custom Deck, How does it look?

If you post on a public forum asking for comments and opinions about something, expect to hear tons of mixed opinions. If you don't want negative feedback because the cards are "perfect" for you, don't ask for feedback at all. No need to be rude also.

Need Serious Advice :: Very Awkward Performance

Tom Stone wrote an essay about his thinking about "volunteers." It's in his Vortex book. I thoroughly enjoyed the essay, and recommend the book. His writing on volunteers or "victims" is really well done. Check it out!

    Best double lift?

I use a strike double lift. It's pretty natural, and doesn't require a break (a major advantage). However, strike doubles and push off doubles are not easy. I am also currently woking on Stuart Gordon's double turnover which isn't necessary/a great choice in many applications, but when it is...

    Anti-Social Spectators

If I weren't a magician and someone walked up to me in my work and pulled out cards and started doing magic, I would probably act a little awkward, and I consider myself a social person. I'm not a fan of the street magic "style" in the first place. Just my opinion. (By street magic style, I...

Ways for starting a magic show? Need Help Please!

If you are a Genii member, Tom Stone wrote a column in Genii for the whole year of 2010 about planning a magic show. The first column about "planning a show" is in the February 2010 issue of Genii. Tom's column is called Lodestones, and the first article about this topic is titled "The Big Risk."

Need to do a vanish for a play. Noob advice needed

Craig, a "top it" is a great idea. I know Ammar has done quite a bit of work with the "top it" and he should have purchasable material somewhere. Another idea if you are using a table is to use a servante. That may work.

    Magic Can be Art

Also, the kiss act for me does create an emotion and feeling of love. The bunson burner finale in my opinion is really beautiful. The shadows routine I can't quite describe the feeling/meaning, it is just beautiful and mystical, and performed in "awe" filled silence

    Magic Can be Art

I guess art depends in the person seeing it. For example, there are several famous paintings that have no emotion for me, but I still recognize them as art. All art in my opinion doesn't have to convey a deep emotion, there are several other important aspects in a piece of art.
