Am I making the right choice?

I am hopefully getting a Canon HV30 video camera. - Will this help me with my magic?

I will be using it to help me look back at my presentation, and how I perform my magic. I will also be using it for when I perform to an audience, to keep memories and records of my performances. I will be using it of course to learn how to make films, and also magic media videos to use for the internet, and I may even attempt creating my own blog.

Am I making a good move? Will this turn me into a better magician performance wise, and media wise? What else could I use the camera for to help me improve just that little bit better?

Of course! It' will greatly increase your skill level.
Your pass will be the slickest in the world. Your double lift will surpass the creator. Your table work and false shuffles will become even more deceptive.
This, indeed, will help.

From what I know it really does help since the mirror you can't replay the exact same thing. Also when doing street magic people are more willing to be performed to when there is a camera although I dont know exactly why.

Get it if you plan to do street and look back. If you are only doing one then get a cheap one that you can just look back at.

A video camera helps A LOT. Besides buying a deck of cards this is one of the best moves you can make in advancing your skill. Also, Canon's are wonderful!

hmmmm for some strange reason, it has the oppisite effect on me. When I do street magic and I have a camera with me, people are like, "Oh no! A camera, I look terrible, I don't want people to see me!!!"

I guess it just depends on the crowd you are performing to.

Should be interesting, I am more of a people person, rather than performing to the camera. How would you go about learning misdirection. I use lots of decent misdirections which fool people, but I am afraid I will not be able to capture it, unless the camera moves away from what I am misdirecting.
