Hello people! I really loved this effect. The method I'm using is from the Ellusionist DVD "How to Do Street Magic". I find that the ash reveal is not that clear. Is there another way?

There are 2 places you can find the effect you are talking about that have superior methods to the E dvd you have. First, Tarbell Course in Magic, Vol. 1 and second, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Street Magic. You can pick up the Idiot's Guide from half.com for $4 + shipping and there is a ton of stuff in the book (379 pages) for street performing.

EDIT The effect is also written up in Carneycopia by John Carney

Just curious. Is this the method David Blaine used in his TV Special "Magic Man"? Thanks!

I think it´s actually better if the reveal is not so clear...I don´t like "perfect" revelations when dealing with this kind of magic...also looks suspicious when you show a perfectly writen letter in your arm...

I agree with Luis Vega on this, at least if you're going with a mysterious type of patter. If it is less clear, but still legible, I think it leaves the question of "How did that get there?" as apposed to a comment like "Hmm, that seems really clear for a supernatural being..." (obviously exaggerated a bit). Just my two cents. Though if a clear revelation fits go for it :) However I don't know which would be a clearer revelation, I have a feeling though it just comes more down to how you practice and set it up. As for David Blaine, I think you'd have to ask him about that :p Good luck on the effect though :)
