Changing my appearance

After getting great feedback on my promotion thread, and after reading Jamie's new Essay, I decided to update my image. I made a new email, youtube, and I'm working on a new Facebook page. In fact, I'm going to a party tonight, will do some magic, and will load some 1-on-1 videos. I'm excited.

PS- Sorry Benji, I'm not wearing a suit to the party.

Ha ha okay.

When it comes to image you must understand that everything counts. And when I say everything I mean everything. From the people you have in your videos, to what you wear, the venue of the video, etc.

It is one thing to show a video of you performing one-on-one with a friend in jeans and at a house party. But it is another to show video of you performing one-on-one with someone in a hotel who was wearing a suit and you wearing a suit as well.

Every detail counts!!!

And by the way… I recently made a video on how to maximize your Facebook profile to book gigs. (check out the blog)

One quick question Benji...

I have different images regarding the type of event I am doing...is differs from outdoors, clubs, private...and all of them have certain congruency with colors and style...

My question is...is ok if right now I am not focused with corporate gigs to wear a different style like a little bit urban? an musician once told me that "I should wear better than my audience" and I do, but it`s not suit, but more like a urban-dark feeling...I want to do corporate gigs in the future, but right now it`s not my target maket...should I continue working like this if it works for me?

Also should I use the same image for all the type of gigs?

You should definitely use the same image for all of your gigs because that is the key to branding… repetition and consistency.

There is nothing wrong with having a different image but you must be very crisp. You must look like you're worth what you're charging. The reason suits are what you should wear for corporate engagements is because that is what they're used to and that is what they think looks good. Your style as a performer represents their image as a company.

And if you're not focusing on corporate gigs right now… then when?

Trust me, you must represent all that you wish to become. You must look like a million bucks before you can charge a million bucks… it does not go the other way around.
