It looks fairly visual but the method is transparent.
When creating magic often the creator will jump to the first method that works. Unfortunately if you as the creator came to this conclusion first you can safely assume that the spectator will come to the same conclusion first. In this effects you have to prove that you did not connect the clips in the usual way. You could add another phase where you use another method. Or you could have a spectator hold the clip, or tape up one of the clips making it impossible to link.
