Close-Up Magic // No Cards or Coins

whats up guys, i just caught redline by Dan Hauss and i love it.
It got me thinking about find something for a close up gig, that didnt involve coins or cards. (restaurant. parties, etc )

I want something besides cups and balls, sponge balls, rabbits out of hats.
I was think of a little rope magic, maybe picking up fiber optics.
But besides that what else is out there?

I guess im looking for stuff with every day items, i can carry around or borrow.
I saw organic by dan & dave, i think that looks interesting.

does anyone have any ideas for me?

Greg Wilson has a few, Sankey has a few, Tomas Medina just put one out i think, its really hard to give advice on these things.
Fibre optics is a great choice for rope workers. David Williamson also has a great ring on rope routine. Just go to Murphys site and click around on the close up section, and youll be overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you can find.

Definitely get Fiber Optics. You can do it close-up but it's not very normal for a guy to carry around 3 ropes.

Try getting On the Spot by Greg Wilson. I don't have it but i've heard great things about it.

LOOPS.

I actually performed some casual magic at a bar this past weekend. I wasn't hired or anything; I was just having fun with some friends. The strongest reaction I received was when I made a girl's drink stir itself while it was in her hands. Loops are (by far) the most versatile utility item any close-up magician can possibly ask for.

Also-- look into Lifesavers by Michael Weber. It is the perfect book for what you're looking for: unique situational magic that doesn't entail using typical magic props. You'll see some clever plots in time travel, mind reading, and general close-up magic.

i would have never thought of loops.

Woah, how'd I forget loops!!
I'd definitely recommend them, just as long as you get to know their strength before you use them, you don't want one snapping in the middle of a performance.

Just one thing, if you get Fibre Optics, I'd recommend Fibre Optics Extended, because its almost the same routine, but it has more moves.
