Back in the 90's when I was in school one year yo-yo's were the in thing one year, then pokemon cards exploded one year....are custom cards what's cool at the moment in magic? Because it seems everyone is making them.
I enjoy buying and using new cards as much as the next person but how much money have you invested in cards? How many do you have? Now ask yourself how many you use on a regular basis. Companies like T11, E, DnD and a shed load of lesser known people are constantly bringing out new cards in "limited" numbers and people are buying them bricks at a time.
Now, the smart people are buying the more popular cards in bulk to sell on later when inflation kicks in but for the rest of us that don't have disposable income to buy hundreds/thousands of cards each year, what's the point? The last brick I bought was of the denim S&M and I only bought them because I know in 5-10 years I can sell them for 10x the price but with how popular it seems to have become I find myself buying one or two decks just to play with since standard bikes are the way to go for general performing (as most professional magicians will tell you) and possibly buying a couple more to use casually in the future if I really like them and they haven't sold out.
I find it really interesting that in the last couple years when new decks are released people want to buy them in bulk, have you just conditioned yourself in to thinking you're losing out if you don't buy them?
Of course it's your money and you're welcome to spend it on whatever the hell you want to, just make sure you're not wasting your money.
