The core of this effect is the interaction with people and getting a reaction. The bare method behind the trick is not meant to fool a sofa or a chair full of clothes, it should be tried on people. Smooth it up and try it on someone.

Add meaning to your performance. This is the most valuable tip I, personally, can give you.
