Did I make a good choice?

This thread is starting to make me mad....

We got the - GO SANKEY posts - the GO HARRIS posts - the "MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE" posts (which may be the dumbest of them all - because if the dude could do that...he may not have started this thread) - we have the "everyone is different posts"...but really, it seems like it doesn't matter...because the kids is getting ALL of it anyways....now, we are talking about how is going to approach it...good lord!

Dude, you will get through all the stuff in time...hopefully, not too fast. Don't worry about returning the Sankey stuff - just take your time on whatever it is you decide to perform - and you will be fine.

Good luck!

dude chill im sorry. I dont hardly ever get magic stuff unless it is christmas, so that is why I am confused. If I keep all the stuff, then I will want to watch it all, and just get overwelmed. Why are you getting soo mad? I'm just trying to get better at this, and I decided that you guys are right, that I should expand with AoA, and that is what I am going to do. I dont see myself sitting there watching all 5 hours of Revolutionary card magic, and learning the stuff well when I have all this other material in front of me. Ill prolly keep Rev. card magic, and hemispheres and the single trick stuff, but the rest is just all to much

Yeah dude give the guy a break. I don't see why one thread is such a big deal. We are just trying to help him out. If you don't like a certain thread, don't read it. Simple as that.

Haha - I am not upset - but don't tell me to "chill" - what started off as an interesting thread on choice - turned into a "what does it matter" and a "everyone is different - from popchris" - so the thread was losing momentum...then we find out you are getting both - which, I think is great.

Have a good night children.

I'm glad the whole thing is sorted, sort of.

I'll tell you one thing, i have bought Sankey's material in the past. Single tricks and DVD collections and i've been disappointed with the magic. The quality and the thinking behind the magic.
BUT
I have watched those DVDs time and time again, why? Because he's one of the best entertainers in magic. The guy is hilarious and gets away with crazy effects. I certainly don't see myself performing some of what he puts out but i love watching him do his thing.
I would watch Sankey over Harris any day of the week but will not learn much.
It seems a bit pointless telling you all this but Sankey's a guilty pleasure. 5 of his dvds a year to relax with and then really sit down and get on with By Forces Unseen or Ben Earl's stuff. It's all about balance. People say that you can do anything in small bursts, why is magic different?

Just make sure there's balance that's all i'm saying.

Keep all of the Sankey stuff. I would actually depending on your experience (Which is limited) go with 22 Blows first. I love that DVD. Some of the tricks were crap, but I think I still use about 3 or 4 in my mentalism show (accompanying Banachek and Chuck Hickok's stuff of course).

I think that you should start with one at a time, learn them, love them, find out what your style is, perform them, and you should have enough material to keep you occupied for a good year.

The order doesn't matter too much, but don't send any of it back. Your mistakes in magic will come more from bieng indesisive then working on the material. Buy the stuff and stick with it.

Oh, and you can't send it back. Sankey's return policy is only for defective or damaged goods. Not ones you don't want.

Oh, you're getting both? Great for you! Don't worry at all about sending back the Sankey. Try not to feel too overwhelmed, just go through it gradually. Here's what I do.

Whenever I get a large amount of magic, I sit with it all for about an hour and GRAZE through each thing, take a look at the gist of everything. After that is done, and I have a general idea of what everything is about, I really go in-depth with the most promising stuff first.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your studies!
