By formal I mean tricks like dresscode, sinful, thread or the use of loops. Non card magic, you can do it anytime anywhere. It can be done with ordinary objects or it's something you have on you at most times, like a shirt. Any of you have any reccomendations?

I'm not sure we're using the same definition of the word formal.

That said, just get Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. I say this because it's pretty obvious you don't have it and that's a mistake.

I'm really surprised I couldn't find the trick to link you to EXTREMELY quickly. Did they stop selling it? I looked on vanishing Inc. and penguin. It's in AOA somewhere. Also I think the term you're looking for is "organic magic". Which is actually a horrible name.. but that's what we come to call it. I know the trick is called "recap" or "recapped" by Gregory Wilson. I learned it sometime in 2013.. never did anything with it. But all it takes is a pen (a bic is suggested by gregman.) no gimmicks.. no setup.. pull out and perform! My kind of magic! Happy hunting!

I'm not sure "formal" is the word you are looking for. I think formal I think stuff like tux jackets, dove productions, and billiards. Very Slydini-esq.

What you are looking for is more of the Urban Shaman route. Possibly the "organic" magic as Meggisonj mentioned. There are a lot of good solid walk around magic tricks out there that have no set up or at least little set up. I'd recommend a Hot Rod for starters.

I'll also echo what Steerpike said about Mark Wilsons Course in Magic. There's a lot of good material in that book you can tap into and use.
