Hey, everyone I am going to be visiting a magic shop , and I was wondering about a good book not necessarily of a particular trick but, maybe about theory or advance misdirection techniques. Please give me ideas. Thanks

You'll probably have some people yell at you to use the search function on this but I'll list two of my favorites that I have.

Beyond Deception - Tobias Beckwith and
Strong Magic - Ortiz

My favorite misdirection writings are in Tommy Wonder books, but thats a very small section to pay $90 for. The books are worth twice that though.

For an all around good, slightly more inexpensive magic book, I'd recommend The Magic of Michael Ammar.

If money is a problem, look into some of the pamphlets they have, their can be some incredible lost gems in them for a very low price

Hope this helps

I decided to purchase Strong Magic last week before it went out of print, knowing for a fact that my biggest weakness is presentation. It hasn't arrived yet, but have only heard great things on it.

My favorite books of all time are Five Times Five: Japan and New Magic Of Japan.

The effects contained in these two books are just absolutely insane.

;D

Ladies and gentlemen, you have gathered here to bear witness to an idiot. And I give you... Exhibit A!

-_-" Read the post properly, he's asking specifically for books more on presentation and showmanship and performance theory.

Some suggestions would be:

The Fitzkee Trilogy
Magic and Showmanship
Sleight of Mouth
Five Points in Magic
The Performance of Close-Up Magic
Books of Wonder

The Empty Space - for the background in theatre

I'm sure there are many others, that aren't quite coming to me now but I will post again when I think of them.

Thank you for all the great suggestions everybody I will definitely take them into account. I was also wondering if anyone has read the book 'Magic by Misdirection' it is supposed to be extremely in depth on misdirection.
thanks
