This is heading slightly off topic, but I do think what these guys have said, which IS related to tipping, is fascinating. Indeed, us Aussies don't regularly tip as a rule. We sometimes do, but only in certain circumstances - it's not set in stone, even in the case of cafes and waitresses. But I'm heading over to the US in five weeks, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the differences are, as Byron mentions above, between how the art is perceived. Should be fun :)

If dining at a fancy restaurant, a tip around 15-20% is generally what most people tip, however, some restaurants automatically take 18% automatically... Just so you know :)
 
i have worked at 4 grocery stores and have taken out many many baskets and put it all in there for them. i am just a natural polite person. i have got around 8$ total for a few years work. so maybe people in different areas of any where will tip differently also?
