iPredict+ Tip #1:

Since you can change the psychic's contact . . . try changing them to a famous magician.

I prefer Teller, but you might like Penn, David Copperfield, David Blaine, Cyril, Lu Chen, Dynamo, that other guy, etc.

Keep in mind, with iPredict+ you're TEXT messaging the psychic. Hence the sex of the psychic is unknown (in the previous version, the psychic had to be female because of the voice).

This works specially great with Teller, since he doesn't speak.

all the best,
Greg Rostami

iPredict+ Tip #2:

We learned in Tip #1 that because of the text message nature of iPredict+, your psychic friend can be ANYONE.

Change Christen's contact to that of one of your friends at a party/social gathering. You could include a photo of your friend in the contact but if you're in a rush, you can leave the photo blank.

"My friend Mary and I have a supernatural connection. Mary, could you please go to the other room. One of us will be texting you a question in a little while."

Your friend Mary goes to the farthest room in the house.

"Here's Mary's contact. On this paper, write any number between 1 and 75, but before you do, your text message is always going to be 'What am I thinking?' I say this so you won't accuse us of using a secret code."

They write 21.

"Will you please text Mary on your phone 'What am I thinking?'".
After about 30 seconds Mary responds with "You're thinking of 21"!!!

When Mary returns to the room she asks, "Was I right?"
I answer "YES, How did you know it was 21?!"

cheers,
Greg Rostami

Greg, I love this effect! I've performed it twice today, and both times it got an AMAZING reaction. The details and subtleties within the app are very much appreciated. Congratulations on this release. It's something that I really love and more importantly, will use a lot!

IPredict+ Tip #3:

Here's a tip that will help you with the opposite sex.

If you've been doing some magic at a social event, ask the object of your affection (her/him) to help you with the next trick. Let's say her name is Linda.

Before you start, tell Linda to play along. The only thing she has to do is wait for a minute in the other room (or farther away in a big room/club/bar). When she returns she should say "Did you get my text message? Was I right?"

As with the above two tips, change Christen's name to Linda. Tell everyone how you've noticed Linda's amazing psychic powers.

Have Linda leave the room, have a card or number selected. Have someone text Linda. "Please text Linda for me, but promise me to delete her number right away to respect her privacy." ;-)

Once Linda texts the correct response, ask Linda to return to the room.

When she returns she'll say "Did you get my text message? Was I right?"

You respond with a powerful "YES!" and start a round of applause for her.

This will make Linda feel super special, it will include her in your magic and finish your performance with the spotlight on her (and she still won't know how you did it).

For my single friends,
Greg Rostami

Hi Joao,

I'm afraid that iPredict+ is currently only in English with phone numbers that are in the USA.

We are working on an international version but there is currently no ETA.

Greg I really love this effect but was a bit disappointed there was no explanation for the performance in the "iPredict Demo Teaser" on YouTube where the card was selected with your back turned and was never whispered in your ear?

That performance was done using a Si Stebbins stack.

Simply search "Si Stebbins" on YouTube for many videos that will teach you how to set up the stack.

Once the cards are stacked, any card removed from the deck will leave a deck that will have either two red or two black cards next to each other. By quickly spreading through the cards you can find these two card color pairs.

Because of the Si Stebbins stack, all you have to do is add three to the first card in the two card pair, and the suit of the chosen card will be the next suit in the list.

In the video I used a Si Stebbins stack that was in CHSD order (Clubs, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds).
The chosen card was the 5 of Hearts. If you watch the video carefully, close to the end of the spread of cards, you'll see the 2 of Clubs and the 8 of Spades next to each other (there's a perfect frame of that at 2:02).
Once I saw that pair I thought 2+3=5 and the suit of the missing card is Hearts (the suit after clubs).
That's how I knew the missing card is the 5 of Hearts.

I hope that explains how I did that performance.

Now, you're gonna have to promise me, you'll tell all your magician friends about iPredict+ ;-)

Greg, thanks so much for clearing that up...after I posted the question I went back and watched the vid again, I hadn't remembered that you had spread thru the deck after the selection, and once I saw that I figured you had somehow been able to determine which card that way...just wasn't sure how!

"Now, you're gonna have to promise me, you'll tell all your magician friends about iPredict+ ;-)"
I absolutely will, this effect is just sick!

Thx again,

IPredict+ Tip #4:

If you're at an event with a friend that has iPredict+ on their phone:

Have your friend change the name of his psychic (Christen) to YOUR name (Greg Rostami).

After you've performed a few tricks, end with a GRAND finally psychic effect.

Leave the room and have your friend ask your audience to pick a card/number.

Have someone text "YOU". "Please text Greg for me, but promise me to delete his number right away to respect his privacy." ;-)

If you're far away in a big room, turn your back to your audience, show them you have your phone, and pretend to receive and reply to their text message.

When you return you'll say "Did you get my text message?"

You friend responds with a powerful "YES!" and starts a round of applause for YOU.

This performance puts you in the spotlight.

Greg, regarding Tip #4, how do you justify the text message saying, "I can't talk now"? Because you're in a different room for the sole purpose of revealing the selected card, the writing indicating you're busy seems unfitting to me.

Hi Jeff,

I agree with you. That's the first thing that I thought when I wrote that.
Keep in mind that they are using THEIR phone to text you. Hence the reply reads "Hi, but I don't recognize your number . . ." kinda makes sense.

Perhaps in the future I'll release a preset that addressed that problem.

cheers,

iPredict+ is now available on Android.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rostamimagic.ipredict.android

We are very proud of this release, making iPredict+ available to the two most popular smartphone platforms.

I'll leave you with another Tip for performing iPredict+.

iPredict+ Tip #5:

Here's a video performance of this tip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oghSX4EhE6c#t=04m39s

As always introduce Christen as your friend or psychic.
Have your spectators shuffle the cards. When you retreive the cards peek at the bottom card.

Activate that card in iPredict+ and have your spectator dial the telephone number of Christen on their phone . . . but don't hit send.

Now simply do a bottom force of the bottom card, and have your spectator immediately hit send/call on their phone.

With this performance the spectator thinks they dialed Christen's number BEFORE they selected a card from a SHUFFLED deck of cards.

Greg,

The contact information for Teller say's he lives in California, when in all actuality he live in Las Vegas...so I don't think the contact info for him would go over too well. LOL :p

I'm just joshing you a bit, I am certain 99 out of 100 people wouldn't even notice it.

Great product!

Hi Steve,

You can change the contact information so it says Teller is from Las Vegas, NV.

Thank you very much for the kind words. I hope you have fun with iPredict+

iPreidict+ Tip #6:

Here's a video performance of this tip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7fhIvl_qiE

Some of you may have seen this performance already. Many of you have emailed me about the method.

This performance is simply performed by using John Kennedy's Mind Power deck.

In the released version of the Mind Power Deck, the magician makes a few guesses about the spectators thought of card.
In the best case, the magician makes all correct guesses. In the worse case (from above) the magician makes two mistakes.

If you make all correct guesses, then you don't use iPredict+ (you have just successfully read the mind of your spectator!!).

If you make one or two mistakes then you use iPredict+ as your out (from the performance above).

This is a VERY powerful performance (as you can see from Shin Lim's reaction). Everything seems completely impossible, since there's NO way that I could know which card he's thinking of so how would Christen know!?

magic on,
Greg Rostami

Once in a while I'll post interesting statistics about what your spectators are choosing when you perform iPredict+.

Keep in mind that every time you perform iPredict+ you're calling one of our numbers. We know a lot of interesting facts about how you're using iPredict+.

On an average day your spectators will choose 27 of the 53 cards in the deck. Obviously there are certain cards that are selected more than others.

The Ace of Spades is chosen EVERY day.
All of the aces are chosen pretty often except the Ace of Diamonds?!
Surprisingly, the JOKER is also chosen every day.

Each card is chosen an average of 4 times a day. Hence there are approximately 212 performances of iPredict+ every day.

all the best,
Greg Rostami
