Looking for help to design my business card

Here is a design I have at the moment:

http://www.stevenlevitt.co.uk/card/preview.gif

I have shown people this business card, I quite like it as it is minimal and basically states my contact details. However, people do not seem to like the card design.

I was hoping I can get some help here, do I need a picture of myself on the card? Or does the card need to look different than how it is?

The colours I want to use are the same colour scheme as my website (www.stevenlevitt.co.uk)

I would like any help with this, I have the money to fund myself business cards, but I feel the design is an important part as it is obviously the design the public will be looking at, and I am not sure who to turn to, as I want this card designed soon as possible.

Also, would any of these photos be handy to have on the business card.

Any help I appreciate!

I see nothing wrong with it... It's not nearly as basic as the average business card, don't think that you need a flashy business card to be successful. I've seen a lot of very bleak business cards used and those people are doing just fine. I've been a graphics designer for roughly 10 years now and I wouldn't change a thing except make it horizontal instead of vertical but that's just my preference.

I do have a problem with your website though... It loads terribly slow.

I agree with Faded Temp. I think your business card may look more appealing if it is somehow set up horizontally. I seem to like the design because it is simple.
For me the phone number looks weird but maybe that is how you write yours out based on your location. Most of the numbers around me have (123) 123-4567 as the format.

Your website loaded very quickly for me but I am on a T3 line at school and have a very fast MacBook.

From my personal perspective. I would keep the white on top, tan on the bottom as it was on the horizontal card.

This is how I would do it.

Hey man, the little logo is nice :)

I'd say have a play around with the orientation and positioning of the graphics on the vertical card, I find it can look really nice and contemp. putting the info right to the bottom of the card.

The contact deets on the back would look nice at the bottom, leave the logo in the middle, see how that plays out!

feel free to drop a message if you fancy discussing your requirements at a later date - you can check out a small quick portfolio of some recent work on my site :)

Looking good dude,

I actually really like the card. It catchs my eye and everything. The only thing I would say...are you sure YOU like them and are you going to use them just as a give away or in your magic.

Its always a great idea to have a blank back card or at least space on your card to right. That way you can always use the card in a trick and they can keep both the trick and the card. (Like if there is a prediction on the back.)

Personally, I have a reveal RIGHT on my business card. No one notices as it is hidden. But it plays well.

Yes...Keep it how you just posted it. That looks very nice. I like it a lot.
I think I was confused earlier and thought that all of the info was on the front and it was like a split color front.

Seeker makes a valid point. You may want to have a reveal somewhere on the card. Mine just happens to be a Jack of Spades.
This way...say you are out somewhere and someone says hey...I heard you do magic. Force them a card, have it revealed, and then they keep the business card.

I usually do this with my Jack of Spades, a wiregram, and the Jack of Spades is actually on the business card as well. It makes for a one hit trick, and to be able to give out your business cards to anyone who just witnessed your trick you performed.

I don't know...it is definitely and idea to toss around.
