Magic Class at the College of Marin

For those who know me over on the Ellusionist forums, then you'll already be familiar with this. For the rest of you - read on!

I have been asked to teach a community education class at the College of Marin in Kentfield, CA. The topic for the class is, "Magic As A Lifestyle".

The class is a 6-week class starting June 15, 2010 and will run through July 20th, 2010. Class will be on Wednesday nights from 7PM-9PM.

This course will introduce students to magic not only as a hobby, but as a viable career path.

The class will cover the importance of the Magician's Code of Ethics, focusing on magic's time-honored tradition of recognizing magicians of the past and present, and how to present oneself as a magician, regardless of social position.

Students will also learn magic and illusion through hands-on instruction. Local Bay Area magicians are scheduled to make an appearance throughout the 6-week period.

The materials fee covers a professional magic kit that will be distributed in class and a CD-ROM containing a magical reference library containing over $200 of reference guides, lecture notes, and books.

Students will learn the basics in handling cards, coins, sponge balls, cups & balls, Chinese linking rings, rope tricks, and off-the-cuff home-brew magic using everyday items such as salt shakers, butter knives, sugar packets and more.

The class is receiving limited sponsorship from the IBM, the SAM, Genii Magazine, MAGIC Magazine, Ellusionist.com, Mostly Magic, and Tim Trono of Murphy's Magic Supply.

Please bring a notebook for note-taking.
