Aight, so im pretty new to cardistry, or cards in general for that matter. Started out a little more than a week ago.

Ive read the "new to cardistry"-thread, ordered the dvd reconmended, ordered a good ammount of decks, but what to do in the meantime?

Currently im practicing the tornado cut, is there any other basics i should learn before my dvd arrives?

Or any other tips in general?

One thing that may sound odd is to hold a deck constantly in your hands for long periods of time.

I'm serious. Doing so will make you accustomed to the presence of it, and allow you to grow comfortable with the weight and curvature of the deck.

Some may find it not so important (or not at all), but there is a difference between the way laymen hold their cards and the way flourishers and magicians hold their cards.

At least for me, I'm more conscious now of how much my palms are sweating or how much heat they are emitting, and so I adjust my grip accordingly to prevent my cards from warping.

Caring for your cards is a good thing.
