Question About Method?

Just yesterday I was watching my new friend do some magic, and they fairly standardly set up a reverse, but then did something weird and I was wondering if you all could clue me in as to the method. He got me to select, and then double undercut to the top, and then turned one of the decks over, and faro shuffled them together about a quarter of an inch, then he covered and in one smooth motion turned all the cards "the same way" (this is where I think the reverse comes in) and finished the shuffle, finally ending with a cut, and my card face up in the centre of the deck.

Any thoughts would help!
