At my website, I'm having a new effect released in the store section (when it's open) and I was wondering if I could use Centurions in the preview video. I don't think it would be allowed, but I'm just making sure.

I wouldn't be able to tell you, however, why not just use regular bikes if you are already sure that it wouldn't be allowed?

If you buy the cards, you own them. You can do whatever you want with them, as long as you don't reprint them of course. But yeah, you wouldn't ask the maker of your clothes if it was okay to wear them in your video, or would you?
it is not that retarded to ask about it. I know that there are many copy right laws that address things like this but on the other hand you probably don't have conflict of interest by using the cards. This guy was just trying to do the right thing is it that much of a problem.
There is a great book on these subjects called "Free Culture." Believe it or not, if a company wanted to go after you for using their cards in a video, they potentially could. They could argue that their copyrighted artwork (the cards) is protected and would require their permission in order to be filmed. (This is why TV and Movie companies have divisions devoted solely to "permissions." Before anyone gets up, I want to be clear that I am not saying this is a good thing, or that the company would be "right" but the law now recognizes this is a somewhat valid claim.While most of us would consider it ridiculous, anyone with a couple hundred bucks can file a law suit.
Having said that, I think any magic company which sold cards would have a PR nightmare on their hands if they did sue.
