S&M with no DDs on - Take a look!

Hmm well DnD did say there deck would be new and unique.:p Well when you look at it again it looks more like a symbol then two d's. At first I didn't even notice the two d's until some of you guys pointed it out. Oh and scott at decknique made a nice photoshop of how some of you guys would have wanted the deck to turn out.

If those were real, I'd buy them out.

I'm sorry, but all of those kick S and M's ass!

It seems that everyone is forgetting one simple fact:

The Buck Twins decided to create and release their own deck (s) of cards.

The words to look out for there are 'their' and 'own'.

I think they look alright myself.

I will be picking some up in the future no doubt, if for no other reason then I've followed Si Scott's work for a while and the man is an absolute genius, so buying a few decks of these is the cheapest way of getting hold of his artwork.

Exactly.
I don't know about you guys, but they didn't have to release the decks. It's THEIR DECKS, they could do whatever the hell they want with them. Not everyone has the same tastes. Dan and Dave probably really liked this design and went with it because they have different tastes than us.

Honestly, if I made my own custom decks... I would have my name on it too! Doesn't mean I'm a cocky bastard. It means... WHY THE HELL NOT?!?!?

I'm fine with them, am a little disappointed on how I was expecting more when they first announced their own decks were going to be released.

Also, I personally don't care about the design of the deck itself. (If I perform, I usually use bikes anyways) The handling of the card is most important to me. I won't mind using a barbie playing card if it handled amazing well(no I won't compare it to Jerry's... they're overrated anyways :D)

So if you don't like them, don't buy them. Crying about it won't solve anything.

No, Dan and Dave decided to get some guy from England to create their own deck of cards.

Now you're just arguing for the sake of it.

No I'm not, I'm just trying to prove a point, that D&D didn't go out and make a deck of cards because they had all these ideas, or wanted to design and make their own cards, they just wanted to sell them, because they know thousands of fanboys will buy them because they say Dan and Dave all over them.

Yes, the spectators probably will ask what they stand for, but I think the D's could actually help in a situation that needs some patter.

P.S. Webtech, welcome to the world of white print. =P.

:D Squirrel_Magix, that's funny. I was messing with the different features of the thread toolbar. It is a bit offensive. Sorry for the yellow. Now back to the cards. I really hope that the design will grow on me. At first glance the D's are a bit obnoxious but that may be because we know as magicians where they came from. I guess we will have to just field test them and see. Mostly from my experience I will get asked where I got the cards from (Centaurians & Guardians) I usually buy by the brick so I give a deck out as a gift to friends if they really like them.

I'd say the same about Scott's design as I did for $OLDIER's:

To be honest (no reflection on your or your designing/editing skills), I'd much prefer the D's, these designs overload the backs and ruin the feel completely, which, in my opinion, most people still don't understand (refer to ClassAct's post in main SM thread). I think that DD have created a wonderful deck of cards, but unfortunately, most people don't have the style/personality to use them - it's not a bad thing, it's just not their style to be able to pull it off/appreciate it. The cards will look better in some magicians' hands than others, not because of design but because of personality. I don't think many people will be able to feel the deck, not how it handles, but feel and embody it's aura/air.

Peace

Oh please, spare us all another argument about why people sell magic or magic props for money and not for joy and for love and to see the smiles on little kiddies faces....

They still decided to go through whatever process to design a deck of their own, commissioned someone to design it with/for them, the selling of it after is irrelevant.

And they don't say Dan & Dave all over them either so your attempt at a point about fanboys doesn't hold much water.
