I can't profess to know a lot about underground magic or any other type of magic for that matter. I am really still just starting my journey, although I have been practicing for a few years now, off and on.
One thing that I have been made aware of, albiet late, is the enormous amount of magic exposure on youtube and the like. I guess it doesn't bother me that much accept as to say that many peoples lively hood depends on a large amount of the material that a few disrespectful fly-by-night magicians are exposing.
Well also the masked magician on the well known TV series is doing the same thing.
But I guess one can view this as forcing magic to stay one step ahead and continue to grow.
As someone who still has skills that equate to a novice it kinda of irks me when I put the time and effort in to practice a new sleight and weeks later I realize it's been exposed on youtube.
but whatever I can't cry over spilled milk.
One thing that I would say that is disturbing and hard to get over is the amount of criticizm and negativity that I see in the comments of real, ligitimate videos, such as the explanation of how Dia "The professor" Vernon tricked Houdini. I love this video but further down I see some stupid comment about how Houdini must have been a F@#! to fall for an amitious card routine.
So without dewilling on that to long, cause it only feeds into the negative, let tell you what I am encouraged to see.
These and the other magic forums of other well known sites. I really love seeing the fact that I can be a member of three to four major magic forums and nobody puts down other sites. I love the fact there are choices in the magic world to grow and share experiences and thoughts without fear of ridicule.
I started my journey on Ellusionist but have slowly discovered that there are many choices out there, such as this site, where I can immerse myself in the world of magic. I really think with the ideas and suggesstions offered in forums like these, And the sheer number of great thinkers willing to share those ideas, this generation and beyond can really show a level of excellence in magic never before seen.
Just my two cents.
