Hi there!
Please excuse my English not from U.S...

My name is Joe and am a beginner magician. I recently got a svengali deck and love it. I have been searching the internet for tricks to do with it yet none have really "wow" me. I was looking for some outstanding tricks to do with it.
If you know of any performances or tricks please let me know.

Joe

There are DVD's that are dedicated to the use of a svengali deck. I got one from penguinmagic.com that teaches ACR routines, a hypnotism effect that's very nice and several other good effects. It also teaches things like how to display the deck and how to make it seem completely normal. I hope this helped and good luck with your future in magic.

Here is an old video of me performing the svengali deck with my own handling and presentation. I hope this helps and welcome, performing magic is a lot of fun!

Also, you might want to check out the mirage deck, it does everything that the svengali can but the only difference is that the mirage deck allows you to spread the cards between your hands.

Thank you very much SimplyMagic14!
Also, just a few ideas off the top of my head right now, you can also show the cards on either side of the selection after the spectator cuts to their card to show that they're different. If you want, you can also make their selection appear in your pocket in the end. There are endless possibilities with the svengali deck, you just have to play around with it and you'll come up with tons of ideas. Be creative and have fun!

If you find that you like the Svengali deck you may eventually want to move on to or try what they call a "Mirage" deck. It is a Svengali deck that also has rough / smooth finish to allow you to spread the cards from hand to hand very freely without a spectator seeing a thing. It is a strong deck and has tons of effects. I think they run around $10 or so.

Check out Jean Hugard's Encyclopedia of Card Tricks book. It has a whole section on Svengali decks. It also covers, stripper decks, slick cards, double backers, key cards, short cards and a whole lot more.

My tip for you is to try riffle shuffling the deck. ;)
