Alright so I'm in need of a way to force a telephone number. Is there a product out there that achieves this? This is the last portion that I need for my talent show routine so I'd be happy if you guys had some answers. Please and thank you.

Well I think there's a telephone force with cards in Paul Harris's True Astonishments(6th DVD called Cellmates)
But that's a $300 buy for just one small thing you need out of it.

I think you should just try and be creative.
Use book page numbers, cards, calenders, ping pong balls with numbers on them(lottery), dates on coins to try to come up with ways to force numbers to get them to call your phone.
Think outside the box and be creative.

What you could do is either stack the deck with the number on top in order with cards, force them to say stop, cut the deck there, and then count off the cards face up one by one....

or...

You could do Dai Vernon's Substitute Transfer after they "freely" selected the 7 cards as you go through the deck.

Those are just 2 ways to do this with cards, but I know you'll find something for you.

Cheers,

Casey

I know I need to be creative but I don't have much time left. It kind of sucks. The thing is, the rest of the routine is all linguistic/psyche forces. I wanted the telephone force to be as such too but Im having a creative block. :(

Worst comes to worst, tell the audicence to yell out numbers from 1-10. Lol, your numbers are bound to come up.:p

Have you tried bluffing? Works remarkably well from a large stage. Have a phonebook, ask them to call out a page number, a line number, and a column number. You then "read" the number off the page, of course just saying your own. You could even have a stooge read the number for you.

You do need to have this done with quickly though, don't spend too much time on the selection procedure.

Another idea:
You could have cards labeled 1-4. You force one, and that's the column. You use a riffle force to select the page (or the hoy book test method) and just use the top number in that column on that page.

Just have the cards in the order of the number on top of the deck then cut the deck and hold a flesh/pinkey break then do a riffle force. Simple :)

Clear Forcing Bag.

Change Bag after people have dropped in random numbers.

A little card board box with a in lay piece that sits up against the side of inside of the box and there are forcing numbers sandwiched between it and the wall of the box.
After numbers have been written on pieces of paper and place in the box...you hold the box up high for a spectator to reach in and grab. At this point you "release" the cardboard flap / inlay and it will cover all the junk numbers thus only leaving the forcing numbers to be selected. Works like a charm and is cheap. It is card board box for crying out loud.

Get the book Theater of the Mind by Barrie Richardson. In it he has an effect called "One in a Half Million," which is a phenomenal telephone number prediction that can also be used as a force.

It uses a regular ungimmicked telephone book too. Spectator flips to any page they want, runs their finger down down the page and stops when another spectator says "stop." The mentalist marks exactly where the spectator's finger stopped with a paperclip so everything is fair and clear. The spectator reads the number he stopped on himself while another spectator records it.

The number that is stopped at can either be predicted or used as a force. Doesn't get any cleaner, more direct, or better. A good friend of mine regularly closes his show with this effect and it always gets a great reaction.

The book (Theater of mind) has a lot more great material too (some good ACAAN effects), so you're sure to get more out of it--although this effect is worth the price of the book alone.

Hope this helps.

It's unnaturalness would entirely depend on the presentation. If you present it as choosing random numbers to create an imaginary phone number, it works (admittingly, you would need to either remove the face cards, or at least mention that they don't count, Aces, of course, would be "1s"). If you are planning on presenting it as choosing a real phone number, it might be better to use a telephone book.

I am with Chicken on this one. If you use the phone force as a kicker like in Paul Vigil's SFTDC then it is fine. But if you are trying to force a phone number why would you not use a phone book.

Im forcing a cell phone number. After they select the number, any person from the audience can call the number and listen to the voicemail that immediately picks up. Its a prediction using a cell phones voicemail. Kind of hard to explain I guess. Thanks for the ideas.
