The Weekly Debate: #4...

Let's start by giving a big hand to last weeks Debater of The Week. TOYROBOT. He displayed an excellent show of opinions and really made some good points. So good job.
************************************************************

So this week I thought of a question that may be considered very contreversial among magicians here. I actually have seen some recent threads about this topic and thought that it might be a good question.

Some people know that Criss Angel relies heavily on camera tricks, stogges, and vidoe editing to accomplish his big effects and stunts and other people do not. Well, Criss has somewhat been shunned from the magic community by this trickery. However, many people tune into watch his show and some of the younger magicians are inspired by him. So here is this weeks question...

"DO YOU RESPECT CRISS ANGEL? WHY OR WHY NOT?"

**************************************************

I think that Criss is a great entertainer. People tune into his show which is what he wants and how he makes money. However, I feel that he should be performing more real magic and relying less on expensive gadgets and what not. But his job is to entertain and that is what he does. So good for him.

I respect Criss Angel, purely because I have been acting longer than I have been doing magic (a lot longer). He has convinced many people around the world that he is magic with his show, the aim of every magician. He doesn't hurt anybody and has made a lot of money doing what he does. I see no reason why he should be despised. If everyone purchased Wayne Houchin's Thread and it turned out to be a rubbish method, would everyone be angry? Maybe. Would they have reason to be? No. They have seen the trick and the method shouldn't matter. As long as it creates that magical moment for people; exactly what Criss has done repeatedly. And that's fine.
On the other hand, if Criss is recognized by passers-by in the street and asked to do some magic, he'd better come up with a good excuse quick...:p

Yeah, there are already some other threads, new and old. This is not a new topic. Sorry, but there was a thread made about a half hour before this one on Angel.
