Well, so far the weekly bedates have been really cool and are getting a lot of interesting answers. I love hearing from all of you guys and I love that everyone has been following the rules. Thank You.

Over the last few days I have been wondering something. Some people seem to like the Weekly Debates and come back every single week, However, others seem to dislike or only respond to one topic. I just wanted to see how many people like the debate. So, please, vote in the pole.

Your vote can decide if the debates stay or go...

"DO YOU LIKE THE "WEEKLY DEBATE'S"?" Vote now!!!

This is gonna sound a little logical, ok?
I personally like the Debates, that's why I'm here. So don't you think that the only people who look at this thread will be the people who like them? So the poll results will most likely be in favour of the people who enjoy them.
Hope this makes sense.

I don't really care either way, although I don't see the point of them. They're the same as any other thread except you call them 'Weekly debate'. There's equally interesting discussions happening in other threads.

It's good that your trying to make interesting threads but this seems a bit over the top.

Do it if you want, it doesn't make any difference to me.

Well, I waited to respond to this so I could prove a point. If you take a look at the results then you will see that there are a wide array of answers. Some people don't like them and others do. So, to be technical actually many people have voted and the answer is still unclear.

Meh. I don't really like them, because they don't do anything to further the forums here. Yes, it provides us something to talk about, but since you stated in the rules that we can't argue, or "debate", it makes it pointless, as I want to discuss things with other magicians, and argue my points, not just post my opinion and leave it at that.

Who said we can't debate? ;) It's just when personal attacks on one another start that it becomes a problem. Some people just aren't mature and it's a shame that sometimes intelligent conversation cannot happen because people have to start bringing up irrelevant points and the thread then slowly spirals downward into a pit of firey doom thus resulting in the all mighty and powerful lock.... (I made that up as I typed that. Aren't I just awesome? ;))

I'll give you an example of an argument on had on AIM just a few weeks ago. Some random kid IM's me and asks me to send him some magic videos. Obviously I refused. Then he and I got into an argument on why pirating magic videos is bad. Long story short, he ended up telling me how I wanted monkey butt. At that point, I didn't bother responding and I blocked him. Then I got a PM from him on here about a week later asking me if I blocked him on AIM. Didn't respond to that. ;) Don't even remember who it was... I hope don't talk to him...

Anyway, you see my point. If we can keep conversation on an appropriate level, there is no reason why cannot debate. As long as we are all respectful and we have ACTUAL POINTS instead of saying how I apparently want monkey butt, we should all be fine. ;) Let's keep things on topic guys.

I say keep them coming. If you don't like them, then dont read them. Plain and simple. I don't think those of us who like them should loose something we like just because others don't. Keep them coming and never stop!

Sorry, but I had to lol at that. ;) I just remember in the rules it said "No Arguing", which kind of takes away the point of having a debate, IMO. But I just saw a thread titled "Update to Debate Rules", so I'm off to check that out. Hopefully we can have some fun now.
