I got a deck of these for Christmas, here's my review for the bicycle royal tragedy deck :
Well, I've heard of these cards before but I've never actually seen a deck. Let me first say I was pleasantly surprised. I'll review them based on a few slights, flourishes, ect.
The first thing I noticed about these cards: Springing. The stock is thinner than normal bikes and thus they spring great! I mean, I could make my springs a least half a foot longer, amazing.
For Shuffling: again, real nice. They move off my thumbs one by one, almost a perfect shuffle each time. They faro very nicely too. Here's something that made me fall in love with the cards: I attempted a one-handed shuffle (something I'm no expert at) and boom! I got it, first try.
Cuts: No complaints here, I was able to do all my normal flourishy cuts, packet display, you name it.
now the bad...
Fanning: Terrible.I don't know why but even straight from the box you can't fan them at all.
Other thoughts... I can't do a good shapeshifter change with them, their to thin and it looks bad. Their very good for the Erdnase change though. Well I've heard these cards weren't very good for much other than looking at, but I don't see why (maybe I just got a good deck... not all decks are created equal.) I performed magic for all my family that came over and they served me excellently throughout the night!
Oh yes... the looks. They are amazing. Do a image search to find if they are good for you but what I liked in particular was the pips. They aren't just the same old, they have a certain style to them, check it out yourself. I really like the red on the back of the cards too, that does it for me.
One last thing to mention. Oddly enough they have a very distinctive smell to them. Maybe it's just me, but I think the smell suits them, and I like it.
Overall... if you seem them, get a couple decks. They are definitely worth checking out. I'll be searching for a few more for sure.
